Has Felger evolved from being a DB?

Felger ceased much of his incessant whining and kvetching about the Pats once they traded Moss. He still bangs the drum on what he terms "the poor drafts of 2006-2008", but to his credit he does say that it "looks" like the Pats got their drafting mojo back in the last few drafts. Also, his new whipping boy is Brandon Meriwhether - Felger can't go 20 minutes without some founded or unfounded rip on the Pats' safety. I can see Brandon Tate also starting to become one of the object's of the DB's ire.
Since he put himself out on a limb saying that the Pats would go to the AFC title game BECAUSE they got rid of Moss, he can't remain credible and be negative about the team. Felger strives, or so it seems, to play it straight and "call it like he sees it."
He remains the ultimate d#uchebag, but he's nowhere near as bad as Borges or even his cohost. Massarotti makes me think he kicks the dog and spits on the guy begging for change on his way to work every day. He seems like a real miserable b#stard who doesn't even LIKE sports...

For people who claim to hate Felger so much, sure do listen to him a lot. That means he is doing his job.

FredFromDartmouth is so in love with Felger that he must be Felger. If not we have six D-bags in Greater Boston by my count including the Lord of the Douchb*gs Ron Borges, Maz, Gerry Callahan and that Planet Mikey guy. To suggest that Michael Felger is evolving gives a bad name to all the creatures that crawled out of the primoridal ooze and became employees of the NY Jets. Felger, we know you're reading this stuff so just come clean and admit you're a d-bag and that you're hiding behind FredFrom Dartmouth as ayour user name, OK?

Felgers show is superior to the diarea of the mouth that goes on in the same time slot at WEEI. The Big Dope and his talk over everyone cohorts are the absolute worst. They are pom-pom carriers for all things Patriots. Plus, none of them know sports. Felger is a certifiable DB, but at least he says what's on his mind, and they talk sports. Listening to WEEI in the afternoon, you wouldn't know that Boston actually has a pro hockey team. I'm curious to see what Felger and Mazz has done to The Big Dope's ratings.

The moring show on 98.5 is weak to say the least, and Gresh is the absolute WORST on the radio. I cannot listen to that man speak in a constant yell.

Merloni, Maxwell, Smerlas and DeOssie are all ex-players who played in the leagues that are at the very highest level of their sports. To claim that they don't know sports, given that, is ludicrous.

I am all Felgered out. Since all the Felger lovers have dominated this thread to run to his defense:rolleyes:, I think I will sit this out. Everyone knows I prefer him and his lap dog Mazz to Ordway and his crew. I don't know what I can add to this thread that wasn't said in last week's weekly Felger thread.

If people really don't like the guy, stop listening to him and ignore these threads. There is no law saying you gotta even acknowledge his existence.

Wow. Your assertion that all MLB/NBA/NFL players automatically "know sports is"... I'd say ludicrous, but you already used that... I'll say "extremely simplistic".

Players spend time playing, most actually spend less time watching than most of us. They know what they need to know to play their position quite well, but the rest is often missed, especially in sports other than the one they played. Just like fans, some "know sports" and can analyze intelligently and many (most?) don't.

If you think that Merloni doesn't know baseball, Smerlas and DeOssie don't know football, and Maxwell doesn't know basketball, I'll just let your words stand. Also, given that players spend hour after hour breaking down film, studying playbooks and practicing the game, your comment about them spending less time watching than most of us is just not accurate.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Felger is proud that he doesn't follow basketball because he hates it. It makes no sense to rail on one station's alleged knowledge defects when the big cheese on the other station trumpets his ignorance.

I know plenty of people involved in elite level sport both currently and of the former who have no clue about the on-goings in their own sport.

Deus Irae is the biggest pain in the arse on patsfans. Just ignore him.

I never said that. I was refuting (apparently successfuly, based on your response) what you had actually said, rather than what you just implied you had meant.

Practicing is not watching. Studying playbooks is not watching. The knowledge gained breaking down film does give them definite advantages (especially the endzone views) but is very focused and does not necessarily give players a sense of the overall game or overall league. How much film of the 19 teams the Pats don't face this regular season do you think the Pats have broken down this year?

Obviously not. The person I was responding to made a claim

The Big Dope and his talk over everyone cohorts are the absolute worst. They are pom-pom carriers for all things Patriots. Plus, none of them know sports.

I responded by pointing out how that was wrong. You responded with an erroneous claim. I gave obvious examples of those "cohorts" knowing sports. Your response was not a successful refutation of that.

Ok, and now you've gone off the deep end. How much film of any team do you think the average person here has broken down?

Felger does his job very well.

I say this, having probably referred to the guy as a DB dozens of times in the past. He can be annoying, he can be irritating, but he is the best radio host on the Boston spots airwaves right now. He is talented at his job. The guy knows how to run a show. (Unlike the guys at WEEI, he doesn't just show up and wing it.)

To me, that trumps opinions. Besides, these days, since the Moss trade, he's practically a Patriots-homer, so it's win-win.
