The offense was inconsistent the last year and a half WITH Moss.

Branch is injured, Welker is coming off an ACL tear, the other guys are pups. When Branch is healthy and the young guys play well the offense is fine. When both of those factors are absent, you have days like today. Also, the offense can't get in a rhythm when you give up more tha 200 yards on the ground.

Re: Brandon tate = Bethal Johnson....

this loss today was a complet fail.. on offense special teams , defense and coaching particurally... Mangini outcoached Belichick today sad to say... Patrick chung was not going to make the difference.. Gronk sucked balls today , that TO at the goal line was the death nail... then the jets beating the lions who had no buisness losing that game today... that sums it up....

alls it takes is 1 play to swing an entire game, say what u want but chung does a great job of cleanup in my opinion, hees in the game stops 1 of those runs game could come out completly different. this isnt a world is ending game just a dont let this happen again and learn from it

Sean, I merged your 2 threads that are basically the same subject in content.

Now you have one really bigger thread.

Stop with the moss already. Brady even if moss was playing in peak form, would not have had the time to find him.

Yeah...Moss catching two passes for 11 yards would have made huge difference in the outcome of this game.

Of course they miss Moss.

Welker has been pretty non-existent since Moss left. Coincidence?

Nope, that's no coincidence. Defenses aren't giving Welker anything now.

Look, we are all a bit tired of talk about Moss.

Do you mean that NE does not have a legitimate deep threat and because of that the coverage is tightening up underneath. Cause if you mean that then I agree.

Welker is drawing a lot of doubles and the rookies didn't have their best game. They are gonna have bad games, lets face it. They did catch a couple balls as well.

I do miss the deep threat and even though the record would suggest we don't need one, teams are clearly gameplanning for no deep threat on this team.

Football is a team game. If we were to get a deep threat then some teams may approach us in a 'bring-the-house' type defense. For opponents, it's all based on what you have and then figuring out how to contain that.

I do think getting rid of Moss was a good call. We just got spanked by a team we should have beat. People need to step away from the pill bottle. Coach B. has lots of film to work with.

Consistency...I wish we had some. Intensity, I wish we had some. Urgency, I wish we had some. I saw some 'going through the motions' body language. Not cool. As BB said, they are better than that.

As a fan, that was frusterating as hell to watch.

For the LAST time, Moss' value went BEYOND his personal production. The deep ball is the biggest threat to a defense, and Moss is still a big deep threat. It's not that Moss is the only deep threat in the NFL, it's that he was the Patriots ONLY deep threat. This creates room underneath. It's not coincidence that Brady was completing 70% with Moss taking the top off the defense.

Who did the Saints beat after the Browns beat them?

Can it be argued that the Saints loss was due to a solid team whose QB had four uncharacteristic INT whereas we look shaky and unreliable, especially our O, even when playing @ home?

There is no way this offense misses Moss; Felger said (again and again and again) that the team is better off without him. Gosh could Felger be wrong???

I think San Diego would be a good example of why Moss' loss is overstated here.

A loss, nonetheless.

OK, let me say it for the LAST time. A deep threat opens up the d. Sure. There were reasons why HE left. Nuff said.

TODAY it would not have mattered. Tom had no time to throw or allow patterns to open because the interior of the line is getting killed from the gun or spread formations. That started to show in 07, and has been blatantly apparent since Tom came back. Tom needs that comfy zone in the middle of the pocket. Defenses finally figured that out and are routinely taking that away. The problem is our guards, and center too, somewhat. But the guards. big time.

Of course they do. I knew this was going to happen when they got rid of him. This dink and dunk stuff just doesnt work anymore.

It 100% absolutely would have mattered today, and every other game. Also acknowledging the obvious drop in offensive ability losing Moss does not mean I'm arguing that there were 0 reasons to trade him. My post was debunking the idea that Moss had to get a lot catches or yards to help the offense. I do miss McDaniels more than Moss.

Re: Brandon tate = Bethal Johnson....

Still he dropped a easy first down pass today. he is a special team player period....

Hey, since you are looking into your crystal ball and can see the future, why not tell us who is going to win the SB so we can all bet on them and win some money..

Everyone drops passes. Welker. Moss.. Owens. Johnson. Everyone. How come your aren't slamming Brady for his poor passes today. He has quite a few.

You mean the game where we only managed 13 points off of an abundance of mistakes and almost blew a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter?

Ohh i forgot your such the homer.. yeah Welker is not 100 percent?? yeah that helped on defense today where all those draft picks were so valuable today.... please this is still a 9-7 team... we will be lucky to win 1 out of the next 4 games ... the poor drafts the last 4 years have come back to haunt this team no way this team should lose to a cleveland team that is on thier third string QB....Outcoched and out played today.. Nuff said..

38 vs 21 minutes time of possession.

We had like 20 carries for 68 yards today.

The offense missed a line today ... same for the defense.

The Browns won the game in the trenches both sides and a few experts predicted that may happen.

Woodhead seemed to run just fine behind the line. BJGE, meanwhile, was running up his blockers' backsides even in the open field.

How many Moss biatching threads are the Pats going to have this season. This offense was inconsistent with Moss here. See the Jets game. See the Dolphins game. Let's stop making the loss of Moss being the reason the reason the Pats' offense has been inconsistent. The only games that the Pats' offense was clicking on all cylinders with Moss was the Bengals and Ravens game. Both those teams have had inconsistent defenses.
