Was not a cheap shot, and wasn't meant to hurt Heap. Oh, and one more little detail. IT DIDN'T HURT HEAP!!!
Sure, I think Heap just decided to lay there on the field taking a beach break for about 5 minutes. I agree that BM very likely wasn't trying to seriously injure Heap, but don't try and tell me he didn't hurt him.

Go for it Brandon, and I'm glad you said yesterday that 'you're not changing your game, point blank.'

Sounds great, we kept hearing how Baltimore is more physical than us but for once we try to impose a bit of fear they complain. I will take a suspension if he knocks out Moss.

Oh Jackson 2, dude, don't even start. FOOTBALL. Remember that? Ringing his bell is not hurting him. Should we just go to flag football then genius?

Still waiting for some soft, whiney loser to answer my question about if there were any Baltimore catches over the middle after 'the hit' . . .

Lmao, easy tough guy

Now, I don't advocate taking anyone out from another team, but I agree with the irony you've pointed out. Suck it Baltimore.

Someone please tell me how many more routes Baltimore WR ran over the middle after 'the hit,' or how many more catches (if any) over the middle after 'the hit.'
Hey, how many passes did Tom Brady complete in 2008 after Pollard hit him in the knee? That make it OK? Football's rough and things happen, but the rule clearly disallows helmet-to-helmet hits. You'll never know if he meant to do it, but you can't argue that it was a helmet to helmet hit, and that's why he's being punished.

Any chance we see the NFLPA get involved in this? Seems kind of absurd to just jump in week 6 and increase the fines to whatever they feel is necessary. A 50k fine for some first time offenders might be more than a few weeks worth of paychecks.

eh, you lose.

I'm ok with the helmet to helmet hits getting fined and suspended. And even the spearing.

But I hope we don't start seeing flags on guys for laying a shoulder into someone's chest.

I have a feeling refs will start throwing flags for anything they view as a hard it.

If a receiver is coming across the field and catches the ball and a safety lays a shoulder into the recievers chest so hard his helmet pops off, that should not be penalty.

I want the players protected from the shots to the head, but if they are going to start flagging for hard hits in general, then they might was well foregoe tackling all together and throw flags on the players. Because there will be no way for a defender to judge what is a proper tackling technique.

That's about the smartest thing you've said in this thread, only because it's the shortest.

"Dude", you evidently don't read terribly well. I didn't offer an opinion on whether or not the hit was appropriate. My point was that it's easy for you to sit there typing and say that the hit didn't hurt Heap. Are you seriously contending that the hit didn't hurt? What a hero...

When you were smoking in the boys room, I was playing football with men.

Just heard this on BSPN no suspension just the fine. But wait the suspensions are suppose to be handed down tomorrow so who knows.

This is for TWO hits on Sunday. 25K for each.

James Harrison $75K.... Repeat offender

What "two" illegal hits? He only made one illegal helmet to helmet hit on Heap. He gave Heap a shot earlier in the game where he lead with his shoulder/helmet, but he didn't actually make contact with his helmet, and he didn't hit Heap in the helmet on that play, either (perfectly legal). The other big hits from Meriweather weren't even close to being illegal. Yea, Mason stayed down for awhile after Meriweather tried to separate him from the ball, but that hit was legal, and in bounds. He was called for "illegal contact" once, but that penalty was actually on Arrington, and Meriweather made a good clean hit in the endzone seperating the ball from the receiver.

Lol, what next, want to whip em out and measure?

I think the hit on Heap on the goal line is what the other must be. I personally don't think that one was intentional, or all that bad.

Hmm Eric Smith was fined only $7,500 for his cheap shot on Wes Welker in week 2. WW was a lot more defenseless than Todd Heap was. Watching the BM hit on replay made it clear that BM could not see if Heap had the ball or not, while WW wasn't even close to catching the ball. Now why doesn't this surprise me one bit. Seriously when are the NFL reports going to start asking some question about why the Jets and their players are consistently receiving preferential treatment???

Is there a way BM can appeal the decision / fine ? What is the players association's take on this ?

I think the timing here is a bit reactionary. These fines are steep because of the fact that they all happened on the same day. If Harrison and Robinson don't go h2h, Meriweather's fine is no more than $10k. These actions were not inter-related, but they're being punished like they were.

I'm sorry guys, there was nothing wrong with the hit. Okay? It's football. People can get hurt. Sorry to say.

How many more catches over the middle did Baltimore have after Brandon laid the wood? Sorry, I can't hear you?

Cut the soft crap. He was sending a message that you don't come into the paint and dunk it on our home court. To those who want to return to the days of Gus Scott, where no WR feared going over the middle, God help you.

Go for it Brandon, and I'm glad you said yesterday that 'you're not changing your game, point blank.'

This is nuts, plain and simple. What Brandon did was against the rules and potentially dangerous. He launched at Heep's head helmet-first. If he had led with his shoulder, which he could've done, it would've been an entirely different matter.
