Scout.com: NFL Rule changes for 2006

Rule was changed a couple years again. Try again Deus. Any other avenues left for you to try and discredit BJGE?

Dude, no offense, but all BJGE could have scored on that fourth down. His effort, to me anyway, looked less than stellar.

Speaking of goal-line stands: whatever happend to the leap? You know - jumping over the line?

I personally love BJGE but I concede he probably lacks the speed and burst to be an NFL back.

Extended his arms and he is over the goalline...he instead goes down hard.

Kinda hard to leap over the line with a 260lb lb hanging off the back of your jersey, pulling you from behind.

Doesn't stop you from extending your arms out.

You can use that guy as an excuse all you want, but he had plenty of room to still make the score.

You try scoring when you get horsecollared. There is a reason it is ILLEGAL.

Players who have gotten horsecollared have had their legs broken. e.g., Terrell Owens.

It's an automatic personal foul penalty...no flag on the play, he got grabbed from behind short of the TD.

What everyone is missing and what will surely get driven home to him is he could have extended his arms out and scored...he didn't even try to extend, he just went down. The "horse-collar" is a red herring, he didn't do his best to score and didn't even try once he started to go down.

Don't even bother responding. To claim that it was a jersey pull is idiotic because you don't even see it stretched.

Now, this IS a jersey pull!

There's no possible way to argue that it was not a horse collar, but that's besides the point. He ran high and slow and missed what should have been a sure TD. If (when) he gets cut it won't be because of that single play though, he's just not very good.

4 years later and Maroney is still a worthless RB who is sure to get cut, but it's really not even worth correcting people anymore. Those who pay one iota of attention know he's not getting cut, those who don't ignorance is bliss.

I agree, from the time he gets the ball until the time he hits the LOS is an eternity.

All the Pats take forever to get to the LOS.
For Ellis it is because he is slow as a snail.
For Maroney it is because he dances troo much, and for Faulk, Taylor and Morris it is because they are extremely old and on their last legs.

"Don't even bother responding" = "I don't want to hear anything I that doesn't fit my views"

Watch the play again...see how close he was and how much freaking room he had to his right to extend his arms out to score

He didn't even try...

You are not going to extend out your arms when you are being yanked backwards.

IF it is not a horsecollar, then tell me WHY BJGE rolls backwards and TOWARDS Kehl after the play terminates??

If it was a simple tackle, BJGE would have fallen FORWARD because that was his momentum. He was running towards the EZ, so how come he's all of a sudden going backwards?

What amount of force is going to do that?

That's like someone hitting you in the back of the head and then asking you why you didn't duck. You are not going to do anything but fall backwards when you are horse-collared.

He had plenty of time to extend his arms. He did not. The horse collar is a cheap excuse for him not getting the TD, he f-ed up on the play by not trying.

Bull crap. He had plenty of time and was close enough to fall backwardsa with his arms forward and still make the TD.

You can use the horse collar for an excuse, but he was close enough to fall down backwards and still make the freaking TD if he just extended his damn arms.

You didn't answer any of my questions. Let's assume it was not a horsecollar. Why is he going backwards all of a sudden?

Why does he roll backwards and TOWARDS Kehl after the play terminates?

If he was tackled from behind, logic dictates that he falls FORWARD. But he doesn't, his back is going backwards, over his legs, and that is a classic horsecollar, and it's how TO, McNabb, Calico and Smith got their legs broken. Roy Williams made his living tackling people this way and that's why it was outlawed in '05.

But I guess you never made it to physics class, much less try to pass one. And it's senseless to explain anything else to you because you're clearly ignoring the video.

BJGE is obviously not as dumb as you think he is. His priority is going to be ball security, not sticking out his arms, especially with someone coming right at him, but probably you choose not to see that.

First the horse collar now blaming it on keeping ball control

Guys coming right at him? Both guys were coming from his left side- he had nobody to his right.

Are you blind or something? Take another look at the still, see the guy coming right at him?

Is he going to stick out his arms and get whacked, or just down it at the LOS?

Keep on going strawman.
