Surprise move?? Try to call it...

Randy Moss? It all evens out... Plus Burgess came around at the end of last year...

(worst trade of all? .... Doug Gabriel)
Most people with a brain knew Moss still had something left. He was never going to succeed in Oakland with terrible QB's and their piece of sh*t they called an organization.

From what I can remember, most teams didn't want to trade for him because of his age, the illusion of his play declining because of what he did in Oakland and most importantly, his contract. From what I read, Moss was only going to re-do his deal for the Pats and Brady was the QB he wanted to play for. In fact, there were rumors that he asked to be traded to them in '06.

In the end, the Raiders were in a rock and a hard spot with Moss. He didn't want to play for them and he was only willing to re-do his contract for the Pats. So the Raiders had two choices, pay Moss and watch him dog it on the field as he was accused of in '06 or bite the bullet and trade him.

We haven't fleece the old coot in a while now.:(

C'mon Al Davis. You haven't meddled enough lately. Get in the game already.

Gabriel was only a 5th rounder. If basing the acquisition on the cost to get him, oh well.

Burgess is by far the worst. 3rd and 5th. Sheesh.

Burgess is still on the team. Gabriel started 5 games, appeared in 12 with the pats before being cut and resigning with the Raiders. We esentially rented Gabriel for a 5th round pick.

Favre disappointed Packers didn't get Moss - NFL - ESPN

"Favre disappointed Packers didn't get Moss"

"It is disappointing," Favre said on Saturday. "We could have gotten him for less money than New England did. He wanted to play in Green Bay for the amount of money we would have paid him. It [was] well worth the risk."

Lots of people wanted to take a chance on Moss.

I knew either you or someone else was going to mention this but Moss was never going to be a Packer.

We all know ESPN's credibility and who knows if Favre pulled this out of his a** to make the Packers look bad. But from what I read, Moss only wanted to play for New England and didn't want to live in Green Bay.

And you totally ignored that Moss wanted to get traded to New England in '06. Come to think of it, it was Moss that said this when he finally got traded to New England in '07.

Gray area. Burgess contract expired and came back as FA.

OF COURSE New England would be on the top of his list to get traded to, they were coming off their 3rd superbowl and a powerhouse favorite, most receivers would want to play for Brady and company. After the trade was official, what did you expect him to say? "I WANTED to get traded to Green Bay, but I guess the Patriots will have to do." He was pumped to get the flunk out of Oakland.

All I'm doing is passing along articles with quotes form players. Call ESPN and quotes from Favre fake all you want, it doesnt change the fact that there were other teams that wanted Moss besides NE. I'd be willing to say that at least half the teams in the league would've taken a chance on him. He and T.O. were still the two best WRs in the league at the time. The first words I screamed out when I read the news that Moss was a Patriot was "This has to be a joke..this is UNFAIR"

Unless you are in Moss's entourage, or his psychologist...I'd say you have about the same access that I do.

also a bit gray was the need we had last year for that position. Banta-Cain was just coming back, AT was beginning his decline. We didnt draft any OLBs, Didnt we even resign Colvin the year before?

and the value... Burgess was productive for a pretty crappy Oakland team

2005: 16 games.....16 sacks (pro-Bowl)
2006: 16 games.....11 sacks (pro-Bowl)
2007: 14 games.....08 sacks
2008: 10 games.....3.5 sacks

(it looks a lot like I'm saying he was a great value...I'm not...I'm saying if he has double digit sacks this year and plays the entire season like he did in the last 4-5 games...then I think we did a good job with this trade)

Brian Hoyer traded for a OG ... :confused3:

Wilhite gets cut. Wheatley makes it; Wilhite does not.

I'm gonna pull a "Price is Right" move and come in at $.01 saying that there will be NO surprise moves.

How sweet would that be? Actually we own him a fleecing after the Burgess trade. Maybe the Burgess trade will embolden Al to make another horrible move.

But what does Al have left that the Patriots need? A second next year?

Re: Surprise move?? Try to call it......

Said it once, say it again.... I think they may dump Crumpler. I just have a gut feeling....

No way. He has revived their running game and is health insurance for Brady during passing plays.

Re: Surprise move?? Try to call it......

I hate to copy answers, but I feel the same way:

Bonus prediction: Morris is cut. The team wants to keep BJGE.

Morris is their best (only?) cutback runner although I have not seen much zip on his cutbacks this PS. He scored a TD but also dropped an easy pass. I hope they can keep him; they need decisive cutback runners instead of dancers.

Belichick retires before game 1 ...:eek::rofl:

OK, but like how is that a surprise????

Because everyone seems to want to trade Wheatley or cut him. I think Wheatley is well ahead of Wilhite. It seems that Wilhite has not improved one bit over the years; he is still a step or two behind every receiver or out of position or unable/unwilling to deliver a pop. This must be wearing thin on BB.

MANY people here have cited Wheatley as doing well, better than Wilheit. As I said, NO surprise whatsoever.
