Spikes and Mayo as the inside linebackers. I wonder how that projects for Gary Guyton and Tyrone McKenzie.

I'd be more "worried" about Eric Alexander.

I am absolutely loving this draft.

I can't help but love it, even though BB does enjoy toying with us. Spikes caps it for me. I'm not going to claim to be an expert on him, but from what I know, he is a play maker from a great program.

I think I will have to take back my kill bill comments earlier.....This draft has been great....If we can get a DE and Wr in the draft I will be ecstatic....

The Pats passing on all these WRs...do they know something about Welker we don't?

I am absolutely loving this draft.

Overall it a pretty good draft. I don't know what all the people on this board and in the media are going complain about now that they cannot complain about the Pats not addressing their needs.

ok...which WR can trade for one of 3rd rounders ..any ideas ?

I like the Spikes pick, the guy is always around the ball, makes all the plays. He can fill the hole and leave Mayo free to roam. Guyton goes back to passing downs and special teams. McKenzie goes to back or OLB. Thomas is on the next thing smokin out of NE. They still need to find another DE. Maybe move up for Wooten?

I like this pick. Not sure where he was going to go, as in how high,

I had a post entitled "Is Spikes as good as McClain", of course people ripped it telling me I was a bum for posting it. But he has a little bit of Brian Cox in him.. not the fastest but a good blitzer, very aggressive, makes plays, hits hard....I think he can be trained to take on OL no problem.

It's a world better than Guyton, Spikes would have stopped ray rice for a 2 yard gain.

So BB trades up with all the ammo to take the WR he wants and call it a day?

Surprised by the Spikes pick.. Pleasantly..

wha??? Brandon Spikes??? but...but...but...he's nowhere near Gholston combine numbers in the 40....we got screwed again....some JAG that just makes tackles...and doesn't take lonely walks down by the pond in deep introspection...poor Pats

If last junior season Brandon Spikes shows up:D If last seasons spikes shows up :(

IMO this is a boom or bust type pick and if we let him get healthy its closer to the Boom than the Bust.

I think Guyton moves to the outside with the Spikes pick. Its starting to take shape now. 3 picks today and we are not even in the 3 rd round.

How many picks have we now? How many in the 3rd round?

I just can't see us taking many more today.

Edit, just found out we have 89 and 90 and 10 total left in the draft.

It never made sense to put the load on Tyrone McKenzie. Spikes is going to have to play disciplined football. He's a thumper though.

Actually, from what I have heard on Sirius NFL radio, the third round was projected to be the sweet spot to draft a WR.

yay nfl.com back to Eisen and Mayock

I like the Spikes pick. We can afford to gamble on a guy with great production but a low 40.

I love Mayock's analysis, but he needs to be a bit more critical. He just complimented Bill Polian for drafting a guy in the second that he had rated as a fourth round pick.

I like that Mayock stays positive on every player. I was getting tired of the ESPN chatter with all of the criticisms.
