No. The Chargers didn't match up their CBs; they played sides. You could scheme to get your number 1 against Cromartie, if you wanted the matchup. Can't do that against NY, since Revis follows his man.
Throw in the fact that the chargers shifted from pressure man press, bump and run (which they ran in Cromartie's best season, and which the Jets play) to zone (where Cromartie wasn't as good) and this looks like a good move for the Jets.
Bottom line, its a win-win move. Jets upgrade their secondary without giving up a pick in this year's draft and despite the FA restrictions, and SD gets a pick for a player it no longer wanted.
