A 36 year old WR is not the answer.

So did we cut Baker early to take 1 team out of the Olsen competition?

If they sign a 37 year old WR when Welker is going to miss significant time....uh yeah it makes sense genius.

After they singed Patten. ugh

Age isn't always relevant--look at TO's physical capabilities. Mason showed last year that he can still get it done and he's exactly the type of receiver we need--smart, good route runner, physical, and will fight like hell for the ball.

A 36 year old WR is not the answer.

Whomever said he was the answer, whatever the hell that means?

Anyone who will claim that Mason would be anything less than an excellent signing probably isn't worth listening to, frankly.

Why is it that people automatically ASSUME that the P/ts weren't serious about Boldin? You are absolutely CLUELESS about the situation other than the tune that the press was playing. You look like ignorant fools badmouthing the Pats wheb you have no REAL information on what happened.

I know the Pats did not land either Peppers or Boldin

So regardless of what took place I'm not pleased

If its for a 2 this year, the pats should be ashamed.. Because those number 2 draft picks are gold., we had alot of great wr picked at numer Chad Jackson and Bethal Johnson.. But if its for a 1, it wont be worth it..

Especially considering the Pats have 3! 2nd rounders.

This guy was not the answer. I believe we will land one of Walter, Owens, or Mason at a fraction of the price, any one of which would be our best no. 2 outside receiver since David Givens.

Because, it's like I said earlier. Every FA that signs with another team is proof positive that the Patriots are only making a token effort in order to placate their fanbase.

That's the consequence of having a bunch of 13 and 14-year-olds posting here from their parent's computers.

Hopefully we can grab Walter.

All of the Peppers and Bolden are all PR ... its never going to happen.. Why pull out???

BS! The Pats want to rehab their image by showing they are potentially inept at negotiations. Everyone are already questioning their motives. A BS crap theory.

Besides, when has Belichick ever cared what people think of him? When he walks off the field in a huff and doesn't shake his opponent's hand in a loss? The way he is contensious with the press in his press conferences? The way they do not give out any information on players and injuries?

Fact of the matter is the Patriots don't care what people think about them. They know if they win, the fans will put up with the BS. If they don't, the fans will turn on them. Making half-hearted efforts to sign or trade for players for PR reasons have a shelf life of three minutes. The Pats' wouldn't waste their time.

Do you think if the Pats field a 5-11 team this season, people are going to say that it isn't a big deal because they tried to get Peppers and Boldin but got priced out of the market? Do you think if the Pats go 14-2 and win the Super Bowl that people will say that it isn't as satisfying because the Pats didn't do enough to get Peppers?

This "the Pats are only making a half hearted effort for PR" is a BS theory from Tony Mazz to fill four hours on his show. It doesn't pass the BS test and any fan who knows Belichick knows he wouldn't waste his time.

You're a joke

I can tell, after your robust 24 posts, that you're on your way to becoming a valued member of this community. Please, never leave. We would be lost without your trenchant and incisive commentary.

You think signing Mason and Patten in an offseason if going to help out the WR core. If you're over 12 I feel sorry for you. Go learn the game then come back.

Is Derrick Mason a considerably better WR threat than Sam Aiken?

If the answer is yes, that means you're wrong; good night and good luck, go crawl back under that rock from which you emerged.

Yeah great. Let's sign another guy in the waning years of his career for 1 year. It worked out so great with Galloway. I want a young legit weapon across from Moss, not a guy at the end of the line who has been considering retirement the past two seasons.

This guy must be the village idiot on this site that no one takes seriously. It has to be the only explanation.

Mason
Patten
Moss (Another year older)

Good times.

How is upgrading from Aiken to Mason NOT going to help? Provided another move or 2 was made (and no one is suggesting Mason as the ONLY move), I can't see how that wouldn't be an upgrade.

And before you go insulting people or feeling sorry for them, perhaps you should learn the difference between "core" and "corps"

If you really think Derrick Mason and Joey Galloway are at all similar players, well... then I guess there's no helping you. Were you by chance a Patriots fan in 2001 and 2003?

Then again, you also think Cromartie is the bee's knees, so I take that as a sure sign that we'll never agree when it comes to player evaluation.
