it does not seem like good value to let go of a veteran big strong experienced LB with flexibility to play different positions and risk taking a cap hit in 2011...unless he is either so physically inept that he sucks OR he is completely disrespectful and insubordinate to BB...
I am betting on the latter


otherwise it makes sense to kepe him for one more year and try to squeeze every last drop of playing ability out of him while you retool your defense

I think what Nikolai forgets, is that its because of AT that we needed veteran leadership. With him gone, it wont be as bad

If he gets released, I think we should take a look at the guy.

He'd probably be willing to play on a one year "prove it" type deal, since he would have a great shot at a championship here.

Also, since he is older, that automatically means he's a locker room leader whom would be willing to help our younger players out.

I doubt he will be back next year. I can see one of BB's priorities this offseason finding the right 'locker room' guys and Adalius has shown he isn't one of them.

Umm, did you miss the snow blizzard fiasco and his frequent quotes to the media undermining the team? I'm surprised he wasn't chased out of town on a rail. I suppose BB is just too classy to air his obvious contempt of AD to the media. Cutting his sorry, locker-room cancer ass, is really the least I expected to happen.

From what I have heard the snowstrom thing was the last straw.

I have heard that he didn't like being a ILB the last few seasons and he was told he would be OLB this year and when Mayo got hurt in week one apperently he refused to switch back to ILB. Obviously BB did not like this and the fued grew from there.

I can't remember where I picked all this up but when I heard this it was all believeable and seemed really logical so I bought it.

Risk a cap hit in 2011 by cutting him? In 2011, Thomas will cost $4.4 mil cap hit if cut, and about $10 mil if kept. Is this the Michael Felger School of Capolog?

Besides, if you've seen him play this past year, he sucks. I'd rather have Monty Beisel. At least Monte ran before missing tackles.

It isn't 'these days' that requires smiley icons, it is this medium, the internet.

The problem with sarcasm is that you are saying something really stupid, hoping that others realize you aren't that stupid. This is usually communicated by tone of voice. On the internet, unless you are careful to give good clues that you don't mean what you say and don't give the internet equivalent of tone of voice it is best to assume that people will take you at your word. I don't know how many people who read this forum and never post read you message and thought, "What a donkey!" but I'll bet it is in the hundreds. I wasn't sure myself. Now that I know your stance on AD and the concept of team, I will know next time.

After 9 years and thousands of posts read, I feel I know people like Pats1, Box, etc and could recognize sarcasm by the content. Similarly, I know the agendas of DI, Tanked, redsux1918 and ibleedgreen (where have they been?) and their ilk. They don't need smilies because all their posts are drearily identical and they tend to say what they mean, anyway. I guess if they ever said the Pats did something right, I'd have to assume it to be sarcasm.

If the New England Patriots decide to cut outside linebacker Adalius Thomas, then he probably won't have to wait long to find employment.

A call to his previous defensive coordinator should be all it takes.

Before the Patriots made Thomas one of their major offseason free-agent acquisitions for 2007, he spent seven years with the Baltimore Ravens. He played under Rex Ryan, now the New York Jets' head coach.

Talkative Jets inside linebacker Bart Scott was a guest Tuesday morning on "Mike & Mike" and discussed his hope for reuniting with Thomas . Scott played seven seasons in Baltimore before following Ryan to the Jets a year ago.

"It's funny," Scott said. "I was hanging with Adalius Thomas for Super Bowl weekend. We're buddies from back in the day. He made it public that he's expressed in interest in joining Rex. I think some of his better years of his career have been a part of the Ravens' defense and under Rex Ryan's tutelage. It'll be exciting."

Thomas' time with the Patriots has been disappointing. He fell out of favor with Patriots coach Bill Belichick and was benched twice last year.

Thomas' sack numbers steadily climbed over his last three seasons with Baltimore. He collected eight, nine and a career-high 11. Since he joined the Patriots he has recorded 6.5, five and three last year.

Ryan playfully shot down a question about Thomas when asked Saturday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. But Ryan did explain why it's important for a new coach to collect former players, as he did last year with Scott, safety Jim Leonhard and defensive end Marques Douglas.

"That's big," Ryan said. "Any coach that gets a job will want to bring people in that he's familiar with. These are guys that the rest of the team is going to look at. You better make sure you bring the right guys in from a work-ethic standpoint, from the type of study habits and all that. They're teammates are going to be watching them."

They should trade him to the Jets. We have control of the player. He wants to go there and persumably they want him. Seems like a no brainer. Trouble then would be finding the right compensation but it is better than letting him walk and it would be a team you would have some leverage over as you could argue that trading him out of the division for pennies on the dollar would be smarter than just letting him walk to a division foe. Other teams would see that you are trying to keep him from the division and likely use that against you.
