Is Moss worth $11,257,280?

Yes, Moss disappeared for half the game.. Why? Because the offensive line couldn't protect Brady. It's pretty sad when the Ravens are using 3-4 people to pass rush and they are still getting to Brady on stunts and delayed rushes.

But lets just forget that happened. It was all Moss' fault. It was Moss' fault that Ed Reed was shaded to his side and that they had 2 guys on Moss most of the game (contrary to Simms/Nantz). But, yeah, it's Moss' fault that Koppen let Ray Lewis get in for a sack on Brady. It's Moss' fault that Light couldn't force Terrell Suggs wide enough that, even with Brady stepping up in the pocket, Suggs was able to strip Brady of the ball.

Get the picture yet?
It's Moss' fault that Edelman drops so many passes and it's also his fault that the O line blocked like crap

He runs half ass, NEVER fights for the ball, doesnt block, isnt a true #1 anymore

According to Reiss, Moss finished second to Brady in playing time among skill-position players. So if what you're saying is true, then Belichick needs a course in film study because he's got the wrong players on the field.

QB Tom Brady – 94.7 percent
WR Randy Moss – 85.2 percent
TE Benjamin Watson – 66.4 percent

That's his cap number for 2010. Highest on the team (Brady and Thomas are close behind).

Does his performance in 2008 and 2009 warrant the Pats paying him that in the final year of his contract? If they release him, it will save about $6M off the "cap." (there probably won't be one)

Does this question even need asking?
Welker is out, Edelman is inexperienced, and the other WRs are scrubs.
Cutting Moss for the sake of 'saving 6M' of cap room in an UNCAPPED year is insanity.
Please take your meds thanks.

Cutting AD, that's absolutely going to happen. I'm on board with that. Cutting Moss would be the equivalent of offensive Seppuku.
And I guarantee that Brady woult NOT be happy.

Ok, I just checked out what Moss did in 2009:
83 receptions 1,264 yards receiving 15.2 ypc 71T longest scoring play 13 receiving TDs.

Ok, what was I thinking? Those numbers are pathetic! Absolutely he should be cut!
The only person who needs to be cut more is that Tom Brady guy! Sure the dude had more yards passing than Drew Brees, but he ONLY threw 28 touchdowns in 2009!
And don't even get into the playoffs Moss = less than 100 yards receptions and Brady = 3 picks. Their salaries are WAY TOO HIGH for what you get! Let's dump em right now!

Yup, what ever was I thinking? *rolls eyes*

with all due respect to these guys who all have big upsides to develop over the next 2-3 years, this would be the worst depth chart of wide outs I can remember.

Moss still went double digit touchdowns - obviously he is worth it.
Aiken and Stanback have no upside!

I think Brady was further injured on that crushing sack by Lewis. He came down right on his bad side. From that point on, Brady played horribly.

Good observation.

I think that Brady was playing with broken ribs and Moss with hobbled knees. Welker was out as well. So it was not like our offense was completely healthy. I don't see how you can acknowledge only Brady's injuries and not Moss' as well. I suppose it's easier to just blame everything on Moss.

I've frequently acknowledged Moss' injuries. Not sure if you're referring to me or Patspsycho.

So I agree about the Moss bashing but I also have to agree with pats1 when he said Moss isn't the same player that he was in 07, for whatever reason, but he isn't. He's got physical problems which I think has a lot to do with it and if it's injuries that are hampering him then he needs to either get better or re-think his options.

2007 was a historical, record-breaking season. The likes of which you almost never see. The problem with this fanbase is instead of enjoying 2007 for what it is, they use it as an expectation and comparison point.

Moss is still at worst top-3 receiver in the NFL... at WORST. And IMO still is #1. 1200+ yards, 13 TD with double/triple team every play, NO other deep threat, mediocre run game, QB coming back from a year off, inconsistent and shaky OL and toughest pass-defense schedule in the last 2 decades...

Just WHAT are some of you watching?

He is worth every penny. I can't believe there are Patriot fans who want to see him go.

Me neither, but go figure. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

While true, this needs to change. ;)

Seriously though, if we want to see Moss become a terror on the field, we need another guy who's at least a threat beyond the slot. Maybe Tate will be that guy. Maybe even Slater. Still, I think we need to just suck it up and draft a WR or grab Josh Cribbs (I think he'd be cheaper than you think) and get him playing wideout.

Cribbs sucks at playing WR. He couldn't even get thrown to in Cleveland, a team that had just let it's only playmaker in the receiving game go. He would be an excellent wildcat quarterback though.

I say we get TO... He'll come cheap, is apparently great friends with Randy despite their rivalry and is probably the best FA WR we can get right now. Did I mention he'll come cheap?

Are you sure he sucks and isn't just a product of bad coaching? I'm not going to argue because you likely know more about him than me, but our return game this year made me miss Ellis Hobbs for crap's sake. I just figured that he WANTS to play WR, maybe he just needs a proper opportunity.

20 rec. 135 yards (6.8 average) and 1 TD this season. Realistically, he's a return specialist that has extra value only because of the Wildcat formation in today's NFL. He's not a receiving threat. On top of that, he would probably have a ton of trouble picking up our offense. For the money he is demanding, he's not worth it.

Moss will be back because Brady will want him back. Not having a legit # 3 WR all season put all the pressure on Moss, Welker and Brady.

A passing threat at TE and a # 3 WR will do wonders for this offense.

Cap number isn't what he is paid. What is his salarly in 2010? That is the number you should be using to decide if he is worth the money.

It's an interesting thought. I think the biggest need for that 3rd WR is finding a player that can at the very least stretch the field in a similar manner to Moss. It has to be a lot easier to call defenses knowing that the ball won't be heading to one of the deep thirds of the field.

No...no one on the Patriot's team is worth that. Including Tom...
