BB on WEEI - rips Houston field condition

Re: BB on WEEI

Most noticably but apparently long forgotten by the local mediots, Adam uncharacteristically missed from 31 and 36 before changing his cleats for better plant foot traction on his game winning FG at Reliant all those years ago... At the time I remember the discussion included criticism of the way that turf set up due to being grown outdoors in a humid environment and then retracted into the dome which when it was closed held the humidity and made the surface slicker than you'd expect in an indoor.

Re: BB on WEEI

this is how people are reacting to this on PFT and elsewhere

What a winer! This guy doesn't say anything for 7 years now in two weeks he rips the Panthers, Casserly and a great stadiums turf. I guess he knows the Pats are on the down turn and he needs to take the focus off their porous defense. I hope Rice and company just embarrass them on Sunday

Re: BB on WEEI

That's the only thing 90% of this forum seems to operate in nowadays.

as opposed to when?

don't make yourself out to have any kind of foresight in this place.....you're no different than anyone else

simple fact.......if you're standing there disgusted by the field conditions, why would you take unnecessary risks?

he's the one that opened this can of worms.......I was fine with everything regarding playing the starters and even though 'oh well' when welker got hurt...figured it was the usual freak occurrence in pro sports....but if BB's going to sit there and say he knew the field was screwed before the game, then he has to take a certain amount of responsibility for the welker injury........

It doesn't matter because if none of the starters played; that same 90% would still be whining about the loss and why the team didn't play to win the game.

It's like the 2007 MNF game her in Pittsburgh against the Dolphins. The resodded field was a disaster yet they had to play. If BB refused to play the starters, we would lose our first round pick and "Turfgate" would be the next hysteria traumatizing the nation.

to me, its not about whether or not the starters should play......you can argue that either way......

its not even about the field condition.....

to me its about standing there and saying afterward that you knew the field was that bad and didn't do anything about it ... if you didn't do anything about it, then why complain after the game?

When exactly are you suppose to complain?

What would have happened it he pulled the team and forfeited? It's not like we play there often, do you think he would reconsider his decision if he reviewed the field grass blade by grass blade?

In today's world of safety and concussions; why isn't the field a fair discussion? Polian complains about everything, why not rip some of these fields? How else will these fields be improved?

Re: BB on WEEI

Excuses, excuses Belichick. What a stupid comment. I guess we shouldn't play football if it's raining or snowing, right?

Didn't we intentionally let Gillete get rained on for the Colts game?

That wasn't his complaint.

"We"?

It may (or may not) be a stupid comment. What gave you the idea that he offered it as an excuse? And an excuse for what?

Re: BB on WEEI

When most people talk about their team they use "we". I'll change it for you if it's that big a deal.

Perhaps Welker blowing out his knee, even though he says the field isn't to blame. But when you go and rip the field condition just after one of your star WR's blows out his knee it raises a few eyebrows.

Excuses? He didn't say they lost the game because of the field. It was in relation to Welker's injury.

Comprehension. A marvelous thing.

It looked awful on tv. Grass usually looks better on the tube, I can only imagine how sh*tty it was. Of course the turf was bad and that was part of the problem, but Wes' leg doesn't buckle unless it was a little tweaked to begin with. His knee probably hasn't been right all year and it was just a matter of time.

No, that's not necessary. I just thought that maybe you were one of the gardeners at Gillette.

So if the field is really crappy, he has no right to mention it? Got it.

Human psychology doesn't work that way of course. Freud was probably whispering in his ear.

If you knew the field was awful before the game, then why put your starting players at risk?

Seriously?
So just forfeit the game? If not, please give me your starters on O/D/ST...

Because if they didn't play, they would not build upon the momentum from the Jax game and maintain continuity.

This would lead to possible (likely) poor play in the playoffs.

If that happened, chowda (that's you, sparky) would be posting here next week, ripping BB for not playing the players and not building on the Jax game and maintaining continuity.
