Just see Icy as a jester/clown, it makes things much easier; he gets personally offended and takes every criticism of the team as a direct attack on his Belichick, which is absurd. Icy would rather worship Belichick like a God (and attack perceived infidels) than admit that the coordinators obviously have huge influence based on how different the units look and change the past 10 years, that it's not all Belichick's fault or credit. Belichick is hand-tied by not being able to hire coordinators past a certain salary, so he has to coach up even his own coaches.
The play calling issues aren't in the first 12 plays of the game, so this thread is beyond silly. This team starts games and plays the 1st half well. The longer the game goes on, the more influence on the game is from the coordinators. The performances in the first half of games are more a product of pre-game scouting and pre-game game-planning, which Belichick has much more involvement and input in.
The question should be more what the coordinators should generally stop doing, and doing more:
1. Put Brady under center for more plays, only use shotgun for 3rd and 3+, and other occasions rarely.
2. Involve Watson and Baker more in the passing game, especially off play action and in the red zone.
3. Stop forcing the ball to Welker and Moss all the time.
4. Defensively, switch up the looks more so it's harder for the QB and O-line to identify the blitzer, if we are in man/zone, and what the safeties are doing. Put more linebackers at the line of scrimmage (not only Banta Cain every time) to give the O-line something more to think about. The same way it's transparent/predictable the way we line up on offense, it applies for defense too.
