Traveling to Scarborough Beach yesterday, I managed to keep it really clear until I just got to Narragansett where it got a little spotty. My car radio is pretty good, but not spectacular when it comes to reception. Was hoping EEI would step up their game, but instead are resting on their tired old laurels... next week EEI gets a huge boost with their Jimmy Fund Tele thon.. but not sure that will sustain them going into the future.. they need to change some of their stuff.. but suspect that Ordway/Callahan/Dennis will resist any attempts... particularly the latter two...
When the rating change and advertisers are harder to recruit, that will make them change.. but it will only be done so very reluctantly...
Personally have been listening to music more than EEI... we don't get the new station in RI.

I can't believe it... but even Felgers show is better than the Big Show. And it pains me to say that... trust me.
WEEI in comparison, sound like a bunch of stale old pretentious blowhards.
I wasn't a believer until I listened for 3 days (using their free vistor pass).. But Sirius radio is the way to go
Head and shoulders above them both.. not even close..
I'm frustrated with both stations. Yesterday I "Listened Live" to KFAN. (Vikings Radio) The hope was some Favre insight. The show was one guy with a couple of guests for 10 or 15 minutes each one of which was a Packer supporter. There was no yelling, argueing, or contrarian opinions. Everything was calm discussion. I was amazed. The overall tone was informative and relaxing. Imagine that, relaxing sports talk radio. I'll go back to it today and surf the country for similar football talk instead of dealing with the immature egos that abound within the Boston sports media.
I can't stand EEI.
Today a guy called in talking about how silly it was for the pitching coach to try to dramatically change Dice-K's approach, the pitcher who was an MLB 18-game winner and sub-3 era guy the year before (not to mention a two-time WBC MVP), and all the EEI guys could do was go way off topic and make fun of the caller ad hominem.
I like they will not let the "celebrity" moron callers on their show (Steve from Fall River, Dakota from Braintree, John from Medford).

Again, I encourage everyone to try 890 ESPN in the afternoon for the "Boston Sports show", its definitely better than anything you'll get on EEI (barring them having on Perillo or other football hosts) or Sports Hub (depending on how annoying Tony is on that given day).
Sorry they dumped all over you Maverick.
Your voice is much higher than I thought it would be.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

This is a no-brainer for Patriots fans. The new station is the Pats' flagship and naturally is going to have more football talk. I've made the switch. I'll check in with WEEI occasionally during the season, though. The biggest bonus of all is getting away from Mike Adams and his adolescent chatter at night. Can't stand the guy and his fixation on 1960s-'70s baseball. I'd rather listen to paint dry.
I hadn't caught Gary and Zo yet so I just tuned in and it's apparently Redsox hour... Varitek's neck and the 4th starter on a team 6+ games out. Until their feed cut out and it went to commercial to fill the air...
The morning show won't fly given it's limited demographic appeal. Felger and Maz present their own set of problems and given the committments WEEI has locked up via Patriots Monday and Friday...
The new PM guy has no access or basis so listening to him is like listening to an impersonal and unconnected observer from ESPN or FOX talk Boston sports. His call in guests are mediots. That's paint drying.
I'm gonna turn off the sox talk now...
You have got to be kidding - the waterboys and Lobel??? I inadvertently landed there on the dial one day last week and they were apparently discussing Varitek and that had somehow meandered them down memory lane to Fisk and Gedman...whom Lobie remembered like it was yesterday while his young sidekicks admittedly had no first person recollection whatsoever... Riveting...
That's not a big enough sample size. These guys are way better than EEI consistently, especially when it comes to football.
