For those interested:

Rd. 1 - original selection
Rd. 2 - original selection
Rd. 2 - from Jacksonville (for 2009 3rd and 2009 7th)
Rd. 2 - from Tennessee (for 2009 3rd)
Rd. 6 - original selection
Rd. 7 - original selection
Rd. 7 - from Philadelphia (with Greg Lewis for 2009 5th)

The Patriots traded their original 5th to Tampa for Alex Smith. They traded their original 3rd to Oakland for Burgess, and tentatively their original 4th. If the Pats re-acquire a 5th, they will give that to Oakland instead of their 4th.

Sound good thanks for a recap

Nice, those 4 day 1 picks are huge. I'm glad we've moved some of those day two picks. We have enough youth developing on this team, especially since next season we will be able to take guys from the practice squad from this year's draft (ie, Edelman, Richard, Pryor, etc) and our PUP & IR guys, ie Tate & McKenzie.

Basically, between 3-6 guys from the 09 draft will be "rookies" in some sense for us in 10. Just one more reason I don't see why anyone is worried about losing a late 3rd rounder and another day 2 pick for Burgess.

With the new TV format for the draft, the good thing is that with the picks as they are, we only have to be concerned with watching Thursday and Friday and take the weekend off.

Fixed.

You had the order wrong I corrected it.

Any chance Coach would trade one of the 2nds for a 3rd & 5th ?

Something tells me that we'll be jumping back into the third round before it's all said and done next year.

Yeah, because it is highly unlikely that the Patriots make any other trades between now and April and zero chance BB does any draft day trades.

You can bank on it these will be the exact slots that the Patriots draft come next April.

:p

Good point about Tate and McKenzie

Effectively 2 free rookies next year

I want Bill to trade our 2nd to Weird Uncle Al for his 3rd & 5th. That way, the Burgess trade - and the Draft-Day trade (our 2nd & 4th & 6th for Al's 2nd) - won't seem as one-sided.

Actually take a look at the draft trade value chart and you'll see that even a mid-2nd rounder could easilly be parlayed into a 3rd and 4th round pick.

Draft Countdown - Trade Value Chart

Aside from the Patriots own 2nd rounder (the last pick of the second round ;)) we just don't know what the value of the other 2nd rounders will be.
