(Very) Early NFL Power Rankings

mmm. Kool-aid aside until we all see Tom back and throwing the ball in game conditions I wouldn't have us at #1

Their so called #1 ranked defense can't do squat against Tom Brady. In fact, he's the only QB that the Steelers can't phase. In their last meeting, the Steelers were the #1 ranked defense at the time and Brady went off for 4 Td's and 399 yards.

i never said they would stop tom brady the pats most of the time have good passing game vs the steelers even Drew Bledsoe had some great passing games vs them when there D was ranked #1 but thay do have a great team

They signed Jones to replace Dawkins, upgraded their offensive line with Peters and Andrews, got themselves a real between-the-tackled sort of runner and added another wideout to the stable.

I could be wrong. I could change my mind in the next 4+ months.... it's early.

Do you really think that Mccoy is an in between the tackles runner? I think he's more of a hit the edges guy. He's undersized for the pro game, won't run any guys over in the NFL, but he is a really speedy back. Like most rookie backs Mccoy won't make an impact on offense until he learns how to pass block.

According to SI's Tony Pauline, Pittsburgh RB LeSean McCoy is no longer considered a first-round pick.
Said Pauline: "Scouts have said McCoy is skinny up top and may not have the body type to take an every-down pounding at the next level." McCoy's workouts have been underwhelming, and he appears to have fallen well behind Knowshon Moreno, Chris Wells, and Donald Brown.

Maclin has the chance to make a real impact on their offense and special teams though. Mcnabb finally has a deep threat.

I love how the Pats are #1 in these (ridiculously) early power rankings, but I'm not sure they are as improved as we'd like to think. The Pats have brought in some talent for sure, and Brady will be back, but I want to see Brady on the field playing before I launch them to the top.

.........Bonus notes:
1.) The Vikings could possibly jump into the top 10 if they signed Favre........

Giggling uncontrollably.

The Steelers seem to not be that great against shotgun. Brady and Manning usually do not have problems against the Steelers. Warner in the SB started to pick the defense apart too.

They were 10-6 last year, so giggle away.

10 and 6 in the NFC North isn't anything to regard them highly about especially when they had trouble beating the Lions at home.

Have they moved out of the NFC North without telling us?

Argh. Why can't we just be the underdogs again? :D

Hard to be the underdogs when the last time Tom Brady played a full season with Moss, the Pats went 16-0 and broke all those scoring records.

A hard win against the worst team in the league won't knock them down in the power rankings?

This is May and we're talking about power rankings for the start of the new season. The Vikings went 10-6 last year and you're pointing to a game from last season that they didn't even lose. Well, they beat the Panthers, Giants and Cardinals and had the 10th best record in the league last season. I don't think it's crazy for me to put them in the top 10 for this year if they upgrade the QB spot from Jackson to Favre.

And lost to the Packers, Colts, Falcons, Buccaneers, Bears, and Titans. They still have a quarterback situation and have a coach on the hot seat- they were one of the 10 ten teams at the end of the year but they aren't one yet this year.

The Peyton Manning-led Colts had their game against the Lions taken down to the wire. Should we say they suck too?

I'm looking forward to a 14-2, 13-3 season with homefield throughout and a first round bye followed by a championship.;)

I'm thinking and hoping for 14-2. When we go 14-2, we win the Superbowl 100% of the time.

Brian Fantana - It works 60% of the time... everytime.

Ron Burgundy - That doesn't make sense.

I dunno. Deus Irae might be onto something with that quick-moving Vikings team out there. That Childress guy is Belichick's nemesis, having beaten him out on Percy Harvin and now......now.....now might get the 40 year old, 98 IQ scored QB who has always relied on his arm-not his head, who tore both biceps late last year and couldn't throw a freaking screen pass without it being intercepted.

Damn that Childress!

Not as good as they are made out to be.
