it's all gravy because a lot of good players have been picked so far today

Hopefully we find some meat and potatoes at linebacker in free agency to put under that gravy.

I believe Kareem Brown was cut by BB as a 4th round pick before season started and the Jests claimed him in a hurry. Anyway, I think the other guy was saying that late round picks (after 4th) aren't likely to make the roster, not 4th round picks.

You would believe wrong. Brown wasn't cut until week 6. And that was because injuries to the secondary forced the Patriots to bring in more help. But thanks for chiming in.

As for the other guy, what he meant and what he said were different.

Nope. Brown made the 53 man roster but, when injuries hit and they needed the roster spot in november, they waived him, hoping he'd make it to the PS, but the Jets nabbed him.

21 catches in three years... I'm not sure it would be that tough to rate higher than Thomas. And I don't believe they view Watson as their long-term TE.

Remember that Thomas long snapped at Texas. Even though they signed that guy from the Cardinals, if Thomas proves he's capable of handling the long-snapping duties, he's got a far better resume elsewhere to make keeping him over the new guy a lock. And that allows you to keep a rookie TE on the roster along with Baker and Watson.

I think that Jared Cook or Casey might intrigue Belichick. Rashad Johnson could be drafted as the best kick coverage guy in the draft.

Yes, it could. But the Patriots Staff can't see the future. So, unless one of them rates out better than Thomas, I don't see the Pats drafting a TE in the 3rd round.
No one can see the future, but that is true assuming Thomas will only be a RFA. It works both ways. They are smart enough to prepare for either scenario if they think its an important consideration. Because, as I said, they are smart and know what they're doing.

Classy NY fans booing regular fans announcing their teams picks. Can't wait until they start rotating the draft in to some other NFL cities.

Amen. Can't stand them.

Well I can't stand them normally, but you know what I mean.

My point was, there is no way a 5th or 7th rounder is making THIS team.

And your point would be wrong because a 5th or 7th has every chance of making this team as guys like Wendell, Connolly, Spann, Guyton, Redd, Koppen, etc.

Do you think BB is clearing the twitter messages? It seems a bit inconsistent with his whole privacy schtick.

*grumble grumble Casey grumble Barwin grumble grumble* :)

His mouth is wrapped around his binkie, Cornelius Ingraham. That's who he wants the Pats to take.
FWIW, I like all of the highly-rated TE's on the board at this point - Casey, Nelson, Coffman, Cook, and yes... Ingram.

I'm not sure Ingram's a good enough blocker to suit BB, though.

Today's ESPN crew is just painful. Chris Carter and Tom Jackson ALL DAY; :ugh:

Oh it just ocurred to me. Would anyone be surprised/displeased if the Pats took a no name backup QB in the 3rd?

Watch NFL Network. You gotta listen to Marshall Faulk, but the crew overall is better. I like Mike Mayock over anyone else on either crew today.

Mike Wallace KR/WR is also a possibility
