We're not 0-3 trying to be the first 0-3 team to get to the playoffs since Buffalo ten years ago. We have an excellent 2-1 team with an very inexperienced QB and a major hole on defense. We also have a defense that was flat and seriously outcoached. Belichick, Pees, Capers and the rest should be embarrassed.
We were all expecting some roster moves after Game One. They never came. Let's see where we are.
SPECIAL TEAMS
These units are fine, especially with Aiken healthy. We also had Alexander and Washington out, so we have serious reserves.
OFFENSE
We are going to have QB - receiver communication issues for awhile. We also have to recognize that our QB just isn't as good as Brady, no matter who is starting by midseason. The QB will not have the same kind of reads or be able to take advantage of the same number of options. Personally, I have no other problems with the offense. Yates is fine. Kaycur is an average RT and will get beaten by top defenders. It is up to those developing schemes to compensate. We now have two healthy TE's.
DEFENSE
We just got beaten by a college team, both in terms of schemes and personnel. Shame on the players and coaches! Many of us wanted an additional two players for run defense, another ILB and another SS. The examples were Seau and Lynch, but other chocies were possible.
BOTTOM LINE
We have the greatest team in the history of the league (Player 2 through 53), but as many of us have been saying for weeks: we need to pick up a veteran QB, a veteran ILB and a veteran SS.
