Walt Cudzik joined the Patriots in their inaugural season and played in every game from 1960 to 1963. That includes the Pats first postseason game when the team defeated Buffalo for the AFL East title as well as the 1963 AFL Championship Game versus San Diego. Walt was named to the UPI 1st Team All-AFL in 1960 and was the Pats offensive team captain in 1963.
Brady was signed through the 2017 season and was set to make $10 million in 2017 and $9 million this year. His salary cap hit of $15 million will most certainly come down now as a result.
Now the receiver position as we mentioned a month ago is even in a deeper state of need of an overhaul. With the contract situation of Danny Amendola still needing to be looked at, and his own roster position not a given yet, the need for youth, speed and size just got even more important.
In the second preseason game against New Orleans he was targeted nine times and caught eight for 68 yards. Then came the injury.
The Patriots have had a rash of injuries during training camp, leading them to add free agent receiver Reggie Wayne as they try and continue getting ready for the 2015 NFL Season.
The final spots at the receiver position for the Patriots are still up for grabs, but it looks like there might be one less player competing for one as we head into the final days of training camp.
