Notes From Patriots Training Camp: Day 13

Monday’s session was closed to the public, with the New England Patriots getting in some work ahead of Tuesday’s joint session against the Indianapolis Colts.

Here’s a rundown based on reports from the team’s 13th practice of this 2026 Training Camp:

Injury Updates:

Veteran Carlton Davis, who suffered a hamstring injury early in camp and has missed significant time, was finally back on Monday. Davis was limited during the session and did leave early, but the fact he was back out there was certainly positive news.
Mike Vrabel said last week he had expected left tackle Will Campbell to return after the weekend, and Campbell was back out there practicing with the team during Monday’s session. Campbell continues wearing an arm brace on his left arm.

Notes From Practice:

Monday’s session was held at a slower pace coming off the club’s two days off, but it was still a competitive practice.

The offense came up with some good moments, with Drake Maye and rookie Eli Raridon appearing to continue building some chemistry. Maye found Raridon twice on Monday down in the red zone for touchdowns, which is a positive sign as the club continues looking for someone to step in behind Hunter Henry following Austin Hooper’s departure this offseason.

Romeo Doubs, who had gotten off to somewhat of a slow start this summer, continues to come on. Maye has started building momentum with the veteran in recent days, with Doubs hauling in a touchdown against Christian Gonzalez on what was arguably the best play of Monday’s practice. On the play Doubs went up and over Gonzalez for the score, reaching up and pulling the ball away from the cornerback on what was an impressive grab.

Rhamondre Stevenson also had a solid showing in the passing game, including making several nice plays along with a touchdown during the team’s 7-on-7 period on Monday. His touchdown came after he made an athletic play against Christian Elliss, leaping over the linebacker for the score.

Efton Chism also continues to have a good camp. He saw some competitive reps against Marcellas Dial, including one play where he pulled in a touchdown on Monday despite tight coverage from the defensive back.

By all accounts, Chism has looked stronger following a full offseason with the team. He got reps with both the first and second offense Monday, and saw quite a bit a time. He’s been consistent to this point in training camp, which should make the team’s upcoming preseason games interesting as the second-year receiver makes his push to earn a roster spot.

Kindle Valdor is another player whose name has come up quite a bit over the last week. He came up with another pass break-up against Doubs on Monday, and appears to be among the candidates potentially in line to earn a spot among New Enlgand’s potential depth players at cornerback.

With Davis being limited and Woods being sidelined, Valdor took advantage of his opportunity and was the top defensive back opposite Gonzalez on Monday.

Meanwhile, Tommy DeVito had another good showing. He hit several nice plays, including a deep ball to Kyle Williams, with the second-year receiver having made some noise in recent days after coming up with some impressive grabs. However, he did have a drop on Monday, but overall, he’s looked like a player who has grown quite a bit since the end of last season.

Offensive Line Shake Up

Both Caleb Lomu and Marcus Bryant saw things get switched up on Monday, with Lomu getting some work in at left tackle while Bryant saw some work on the right side.

Bryant has been one of the surprises at camp so far, with the second-year tackle appearing to be the top player behind Campbell at left tackle. He saw the majority of time on special teams last season and appeared to be in the mix to play on the right side following his performance in 2025.

Instead, he’s quietly emerged as someone who can give them some depth at left tackle following the departure of Vederian Lowe, which has been one of the more notable developments of training camp to this point. On Monday, Bryant filled at right tackle in for Morgan Moses, who got some time off as the team continues managing the veteran’s workload.

Meanwhile, Lomu had a solid showing during his reps at left tackle, including going 3-0 in competitive 1-on-1 drills. The rookie has worked both sides of the line this preseason, and had one of his better practices during Monday’s session.

Odds and Ends

Christian Gonzalez got the better of Kayshon Boutte on one play on Monday, with Gonzalez breaking up a pass from Maye to Boutte on an end target. … Rookie Gabe Jacas continues getting reps with the first team defense. He had a funny moment with fellow rookie Quintayvious Hutchins, with Hutchins stepping in on one rep in an awkward exchange. Things continue to be competitive with this rookie class. … Newcomer Casey Rogers made his presence felt on Monday, batting down two passes during the club’s 11-on-11 session. … Both Channing Canada an Xavier Holmes had pass breakups on Monday. Holmes is another player whose name continues to come up quite a bit to this point in camp. … Jack Westover had four receptions during team drills. After a season where he was such a big part of the offense, it seems like he’s facing a bit more of an uphill battle as he looks to earn a roster spot. … Tanner Arkin told reporters on Monday he had his “Welcome to the NFL moment” last week as he faced off against defensive tackle Corey Durden. Durden got the better of Arkin as the tight end tried to block him, adding, “I definitely felt him.” … Arkin is among several players vying for the final spot on the depth chart at tight end and the team doesn’t seem satisfied with that position. They reportedly put a waiver claim in on Wisconsin undrafted free agent tight end Lance Mason, but they lost out to Pittsburgh, who ended up being awarded Mason due to the fact they had priority. … Mason caught 30 passes for 398 yards and four touchdowns over 11 games last season for the Badgers. He joins former 2024 Patriots Draft pick (7th round, 231st overall) Jaheim Bell, who has landed in Pittsburgh and is among the group of Steelers tight ends looking to make the roster.
