If critics felt like the New England Patriots had it easy in 2025, it’s clear that the 2026 Patriots Schedule will absolutely be anything but that.
The NFL announced this year’s gamut of games on Thursday night, and for Mike Vrabel’s football team, things definitely start out a little rough.
His club will open the 2026 regular season in Seattle on Wednesday night, September 9th, at 8:20pm, in what will likely be billed as a “rematch” of February’s Super Bowl. Instead, the more important thing at stake will be getting off to a 1-0 start, potentially giving the Patriots some breathing room in a stretch that certainly won’t be an easy one.
They’ll then have a significant layoff before their home opener in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Gillette Stadium on September 20th at 1:00pm.
But the toughest part about the first four weeks of the season is the fact that the Patriots will be on the road for three of their first four games, with another stint where they’ll play four of their next five on the road beginning on October 22nd on Thursday night in Chicago, before traveling to Miami (Nov 1st), and then coming home to Foxboro for a match-up against Green Bay.
From there, despite the Patriots being listed as the home club, it’s off to Munich for a game against Detroit in Germany on November 15th, followed by their bye in Week 11, and then a trip to Los Angeles to face the Chargers.
The one positive is that New England will play four of its final six games at home to close out the 2026 season, including two in a row to finish things off against both Denver and Miami in Weeks 17 and 18, with the dates and times for both games yet to be determined.
Here’s a rundown of how it shakes out:
New England will get a fair amount of time in the national spotlight in 2026. They’ll play two Thursday night games, along with one Sunday Night game and one Monday night game. The season opener, along with the tilt in Germany, will also be nationally televised.
But overall, it’s not an easy stretch by any means. For a group that took pride in being “Road Warriors” last season, they’ll certainly be tested again, given the gauntlet they’ll face during the first half of 2026.
However, given how things play out in the second half, that stretch works in their favor, provided they’re in contention at that stage of the season. But either way, it all comes against what should be considered good competition.
After Thursday night’s announcement, the road to get there is at least a little clearer. For now, the foundation is being set for a team that came up just short in 2025, with the hope that Drake Maye and company can take another step forward and potentially put themselves in the mix for another run again next January.
