Following the Patriots’ 10-7 win out in a snowstorm in Denver, they had to wait to see who their opponent would be in their next postseason match-up as the Seahawks took on the Rams out in Seattle.

Several hours later, we know who they’ll be facing in Santa Clara in two weeks.

It will be Sam Darnold and the Seahawks, who took care of the Rams on Sunday, 31-27.  That sets up another meeting between the Patriots and Seahawks with a Vince Lombardi Trophy at stake.

The last time the two teams met on that stage was back in 2014 in Glendale Arizona, where New England came away with the 28-24 victory thanks to the infamous Malcolm Butler interception.

In that Patriots vs Seahawks showdown, it was Russell Wilson who was Seattle’s quarterback against then Patriots QB Tom Brady, while this match-up will instead see second-year New England quarterback Drake Maye take on Darnold with the Lombardi Trophy on the line.

Darnold put up quite the performance on Sunday against Matthew Stafford, with Darnold completing 25-of-36 (69.4%) for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns.  It’s certainly a big moment for him, with the former Jets QB having led his current club to a Super Bowl berth after a 14-3 regular season finish by the Seahawks in 2025.

The last time the Patriots took on Seattle during the regular season was in Week 2 of 2024, with the Seahawks winning that match-up 23-20.

Overall, New England is 3-4 against them going back to 2000.

The Super Bowl is currently set for Sunday, February 8, at 6:30 pm ET at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
