Drake Maye hasn’t been in New England very long, but he seems to have one thing in common with the fans here locally.

He’s a big fan of the red old-school throwback uniforms.

During an appearance recently with Chris Long on the “Green Light” podcast, Long told Maye he believed the Patriots should wear those every game and Maye admitted that he’s a big fan of them.

“Those reds are sweet, aren’t they?” said Maye.  “They’re sweet. We’re 0-2 in them, but I thought we played pretty good in them. But the reds are sweet.”

The Patriots wore those red jerseys twice last season, once in Maye’s first start against the Texans in Week 6 and again against the Colts in Week 13.  Overall, Maye was a combined 44-of-63 (69.8%) for 481 yards, along with 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

That uniform combination also included a white helmet with the team’s previous logo, which fans have been clamoring for years about it potentially someday making a return.

For now, Maye also said that he’s heard that fans might see the old throwback-style blue uniforms make an appearance at some point in the near future.

“I think they’re maybe coming out with a… Maybe is what kind of the fans are wanting some blue, some throwback blues,” said Maye.  “Those would be sweet.”

“The fans are wanting it, so I think that’d be pretty sick.”
