Just days after getting his contract extension, safety Jabrill Peppers did not make it through the first day of the Patriots’ padded practices.
According to multiple reports, the veteran New England Patriots safety was out there at the start of practice but seemingly suffered a “lower body” injury. That saw him initially leave the field to get worked on by trainers before coming back, only to be limited during position drills.
The one positive is that the issue didn’t appear serious, with Peppers spending some time with head trainer Jim Whalen before he initially rejoined the other safeties.
However, even his limited participation didn’t last, as Peppers ultimately ended up leaving the field and headed back toward the locker room.
He becomes the second player who received a contract extension and then suffered a setback, with Christian Barmore falling into that category after he was diagnosed with blood clots over the weekend.
Fortunately, at least for now, Peppers’ issue doesn’t appear to be anywhere close to as serious, although it will remain something to watch heading into the remainder of this week.
