The New England Patriots made sure another important piece of their offense will be on the field next season, with some news on Sunday night seeing the team get a jump on free agency.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Patriots have agreed to terms with wide receiver Kendrick Bourne on a contract extension. Schefter reports the deal is for 3-years and worth up to $33-million, which ensures he remains in New England for the foreseeable future.
The club has remained committed to the veteran, even despite the torn ACL he suffered this season that ended his 2023 campaign.
New England reportedly offered him an extension following his injury, and had also made him an offer ahead of free agency, hoping to keep him in the fold.
Up to this point, the two sides hadn’t reached an agreement, and it appeared that Bourne would test the market in the coming weeks.
However, he had said at multiple points this offseason that he had hoped to remain a Patriot, and it looks given Sunday Night’s news, he appears to have gotten his wish.
