ICYMI: Danny Amendola Talks 28-3 Super Bowl Comeback On Julian Edelman’s Podcast
David Butler II - USA TODAY Sports
Over the summer, former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons.
During his time in New England, Amendola created a reputation known as “Playoff Danny” for his performances in the biggest games that mattered most. One of which was his contributions to the historic 28-3 comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons during Super Bowl LI.
This past week, Amendola made an appearance on old teammate Julian Edelman’s new “Games With Names” podcast to share his personal stories from that memorable night.
“It was just a long night for us. We were running,” Amendola said at one point. “I probably lost 10 pounds in that game of just water weight, just sweating. I remember I got four IVs total, the whole game — two before and then two at halftime.”
Amendola caught eight passes during the comeback, one of which was a touchdown to cut the Patriots deficit to eight, and hauled in the tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
