The end result may not have been what he envisioned, but the 2021 season for first-year New England Patriots wide receiver was still a resounding success for Kendrick Bourne.

Over the course of the season, Bourne went on to set career highs in receptions (55), yards (800) and tied his touchdown receptions total with five. During Saturday’s Wild Card loss to the Buffalo Bills, Bourne led all Patriots receivers with seven receptions for 77 yards and two scores, the first of which was the first career playoff touchdown pass by rookie quarterback Mac Jones.

On Monday, Bourne reflected on his first year in New England with a photo and message stating his ambitious future over Instagram.

“That was nothing compared to what I’m gonna be! Patriots thank you for changing my life! Year 5”, Bourne wrote.

A few of Bourne’s teammates later commented on the posting with their optimism heading into next year.

Bourne signed a three-year $15 million contract with the Patriots in March 2021 after spending his first four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
