Tom Brady Quotes Tennis Book In Preparation For AFC Championship Game
Greg M. Cooper - USA TODAY Sports
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has had Instagram for about a week and a half and its already become one of the more unique accounts out there.
From Bruce Lee hype videos to classic photographs from his career, Brady’s account has become a must follow for Patriots fans.
On Thursday, Brady took another philosophical approach online by quoting “The Inner Game of Tennis” by W. Timothy Gallwey as a way to prepare for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“Perhaps this is why it is said that great poetry is born in silence. Great music and art are said to arise from the quiet depths of the unconscious, and true expressions of love are said to come from a source which lies beneath words and thoughts. So it is with the greatest efforts in sports; they come when the mind is as still as a glass lake.”
The passage hints at “mental toughness”, something Brady has preached throughout his NFL career while he seeks to regain his focus after throwing two ugly interceptions that saw him match his season total in one night last week versus the Houston Texans.
