Patriots Sign Eight To The Practice Squad, Several Land Elsewhere

The Patriots made some additions to their roster on Monday, announcing eight players who were added to the practice squad following this weekend’s roster cuts.
Rounding out the roster on the practice squad are receivers Devin Street and Devin Lucien, offensive linemen Chris Barker and Clay DeBord, linebacker Rufus Johnson, defensive linemen Geneo Grissom and Woodrow Hamilton and running back Bishop Sankey.
Meanwhile New England lost any chance they had at bringing back a few players after three who were waived on Saturday ended up being claimed by other teams. Kamu Grugier-Hill was claimed by Philadelphia, while Chicago grabbed promising defensive back Cre’Von LeBlanc and Darryl Roberts landed with the division rival New York Jets.
Those four players seemed like they might have been poised for a return back to New England after CSNNE reported that the team had kept their lockers intact prior to the news they had been claimed.
Bill Belichick said on Monday he wasn’t surprised to see some of his players get another opportunity elsewhere.
“We’ll see how it all goes but I think we felt like we had pretty good depth on our roster going into training camp and so it’s not surprising that other teams in the league recognized some of that and took some of the younger players and put them on their roster,” said Belichick.
With their roster now set, the Patriots are currently preparing to take on the Cardinals to begin the regular season this Sunday night out in Arizona.
