According to a source that was first reported to NESN’s Doug Kyed, The New England Patriots worked out two undrafted rookie wide receivers J.J. Worton and DeAndre Carter on Thursday.
Worton “caught 168 passes in four years at The University Central Florida for 2,360 yards with 21 touchdowns. He also returned 72 punts for 740 yards” as stated in Kyed’s report.
As for DeAndre Carter, Kyed said he “was cut from the Oakland Raiders’ practice squad Dec. 1. He went undrafted out of Sacramento State and signed with the Baltimore Ravens before being waived Aug. 31.”
In four seasons at Sacramento State University, Carter caught 207 passes for 2,760 yards and 37 touchdowns. In his senior season he had 99 receptions for 1,321 yards with 17 touchdown receptions.
The Patriots, who remain thin at wide receiver, continue to seek depth options down the stretch for the remaining four games of the season.
Kyed posted this crazy highlight video of JJ Worton to Twitter making an incredible one handed catch versus Temple University back in 2013. His quarterback was current Jacksonville Jaguars starter, Blake Bortles.

Lastly, after being inactive for this past Sundays game versus the Philadelphia Eagles, the Patriots have cut running back Trey Williams after just one week with the team.
According to Kyed, the current running back depth chart is now as followed, “The Patriots are left with LeGarrette Blount, James White and Brandon Bolden at running back. They also have fullback Joey Iosefa, who played running back in college at Hawaii, on their practice squad.
