Move this if you want. Having seen Rick Pitino play in the NIT in Madison Square Garden, then almost forgot about our BBall team for years until they were revived and eventually had the greatest season any 6 deep team ever had, this UMass alum just wants to say, I love John Calipari. Well deserved.

I love John Calipari. Well deserved.

Well deserved? You're kidding, right? Two major violations that caused his team's Final Four appearances to be struck off the books? Writing the blueprint for what will be the death of college ball?

Meh. Kentucky were a great team, as any team with four NBA starters ought to be. Fantastic interior defense and they definitely deserved to win the game today, no complaints about that. But Calipari deserves nothing but scorn in my opinion for blackening the beautiful game of college ball.

Proud of my Jayhawks in defeat.

I don't care for Kansas at all, and I used to be a Kentucky fan, but I was rooting my ass off for the Jayhawks last night.

I'm sure he'll get a few good years of celebrating before this is off the books, too.

Screw him.

Paperwork is already being filled out at NCAA headquarters for suspensions and revocation of the title. I'm a Umass alum, too, and Calipari is a stain on my school.

Here here Wista - F**K Calipari he ruined UMass BBall for the years I was there.

As a Umass alum who was at school during that year, I just want to add that I have nothing but scorn for that slimy biatch.

This thread is a stain on the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL forum. Mods, please wipe it off. This is no place for discussion of semi-pro basketball.

How bout them Sox in spring training, Tune?

Camby showed up in Amherst for one reason and one reason only: $$$. Top recruit commits to a school that hasn't been heard from since the doctor rolled out?

Then Louis Roe: he was a player, but I remember clearly how no one would touch the kid with a ten foot pole. Suddenly he shows up at UMass.

Go screw a moose, my friend. Everybody has to lose sometimes, some do it with dignity, while others...

Actually, it's because Jim Calhoun goofed. thanks for playing the revisionist history game, though.

Why don't you explain how he took the worst division one NCAA team and with only one top 50 recruit (Donta bright, not Camby) went to the sweet sixteen, elite eight and final four.

By the way., that first sweet sixteen was without a player above 6'7".

I hate to break it to you, but according to the NCAA, the University of Massachusetts Minutemen never even entered the tournament (violation of rules, ya know...stricken from the record, thanks coach Cal!)

I guess they didn't win 35 games and beat a team with 8 McDonald's All Americans either. Probably didn't upset North Carolina and Arkansas when they were number one either.

I'm sure all the "umass" people here were big fans when they had the worst team in the country and were just horrified that they beat nationally ranked teams consistently with a bunch of castoffs no one wanted.

According to the official records, they didn't.

Memphis has a similar history gap, too.

I'm sure that there's a common thread between them, but I'll be damned if I can figger it out.

I'm more excited about the Wayland Ladies Auxiliary Croquet Team. Do you think they can defend their title? It's a tough schedule this season, especially on the road. But I'm very thankful that coach Bertha Crapapari is back. She's a legend.

I'm sure if the Heat had to play Kentucky on the road, it would be a thunderous Wildcat victory. :ugh:

Kentucky may want to only raise that banner halfway, then it won't have to go as far to come back down. No matter to coach Cal though, all he really cares about is the team's graduation rate and academic achievements, I know because I heard him say so just the other day, that's what he is proudest of. Temporary national championships are just the icing on the cake for him.

This post is a bit of a mess. What are you asking me again?

Camby was a top recruit. He was on that Final team.

How is that revisionist history?

I watched a lot of the game. Maybe it's me, because I've stopped watching college basketball in the past 3 years or so, but that game seemed really lousy overall.

Aside from that, congratulations to Kentucky on what was really a pretty dominating, if dull, performance.

Indeed. Fully 2/5 of his starting line-up have had to take at least a full semester of classes before they jump to the pros.

That Coach Cal is all about the education.
