Cousins,
This is a definite maybe. What if we can do a Sonny Weaver Jr. and jump around the board and wind up with three upper tier starters including the best WR in the NFL, get our young QB with whom the Pats have studied and met and wind up with three extra picks? Balderdash you say?......nay, nay Cousins.

Iffin' Adam Peters is not blowing smoke and/or leprechaun poop, this Pats Draft could be a win in a big way. We have the cash and resources to "buy" these players of mention. Poster "Bourne Again Christian" mentioned this. Credit to him.

The players and the Teams in the Drama are not make believe. The Teams in question have surely approached the Pats already,,,,,as long as Wolf doesn't have his phone on airplane mode.

Here we go:
1) Adam Peters and Washington Draft JJ McCarthy at pick #2. I don't know, why but they have done the study. BS?

2) That leaves that Pats at pick #3 with their choice of Maye or Daniels. "Lord God, let that infant John Carson screw this up"
The Vikes and the Broncos are gunning for the #3 pick and perhaps the Raiders.
What if we trade the pick #3 to the Vikes but with a caveat? We know they will trade #11 and #23 in the first but they know that is not enough. It might be their first in 2025 or more. How about Jefferson instead of surrendering a 2025 First Rounder and give us your 2025 3rd Round pick. OK Vikes, we known you have almost $58mm in dead money because of Cousins et/al. You can't give Jefferson that fat contract. The Pats can. If not, he hits FA in 2025 anyway.

3) Now let's take those picks at #11 and #23 and trade them to............ AZ!!!!! for pick #4 ...yep....and their 3rd round pick #90. It's a little sweeter in value points for AZ .......but it's called QB tax.

4) Sean Payton comes calling for the Broncos." You wouldn't want to trade #4 for #12 and a couple of top players plus our second rounder in 2025 would you?"
"We will give you star CB Patrick Surtain Jr and LT Garrett Boles, #12 and out third Rounder in 2025. Wolf says as a counter, "We want a First if we can not resign both for 2025".

5) Finally at pick #12 we go WR or OT and at pick #34 take the remaining QB Nix or Penix. .........and for the final competition we pick South Carolina sleeper QB Rattler at pick #68 WE DOUBLE DIP at QB still leaving us STILL with a second pick #90 in the third and the balance of our Draft class.

Could Nix or Penix do damage with Jefferson? Would Gonzo and Surtain be a pretty good CB tandem? Could Boles start at LT day one?

How close are Nix and Penix to the "Holy Three plus one"? Could 'double dip QB Rattler" compete and win the job?

You have an extra 3rd #90 in 2024 and two future picks in 2025.

Thoughts and threats?

Love these trades.

Sorry we need a qb and that's either maye, mccarthy or daniels. We could do the vikings 3 way trade but not with broncos. I am okay if we come up with Justin Jefferson, cardinals 3rd round pick and one of maye or daniels. That would be a huge win as we can package 34th and the 3rd round pick to go up and draft an OT in 27 or 28.

Pessimistic view, but : moving all around the draft board might be the most exciting weekend of the Patriots’ season and I am all for it. Long advocated getting maximum top picks in a great haul since the start.

Will I cry when the QB they passed up excels ? Of course. But…

The most compelling post in recent days was (ai forgot the poster) he/she who gave the example of Buffalo trading the Mahomes pick to KC. They hit on all the picks and got what would be considered a massive win by any standard. Except : KC now has Mahomes and three rings, while Buffalo has all stars and years of waiting for a trophy… made me pause.

The ultimate questions :

Will ‘the one’ be available at #3 ?
Does EW know what he’s doing ?

If it’s yes/yes, it needs to be qb.

Nice Draft Day reference OP.

Why would Arizona make that trade?

They miss out on the top WRs.

First caveat would be getting permission from Minnesota to enter into contract negotiations with Jefferson.

The trade does the Patriots no good whatsoever if he walks away in free agency twelve months from now.

Also, the pick at #12 has to be OT (not an either/or of WR/OT in this circumstance).

For those curious how the Packer Way operates during drafts......

I strongly believe in building the core of the team through the draft. That being said, let's not get too enamored with "The Packer Way" which has produced just one SB Winner since 2001 (Aaron Rodgers at QB), and one SB Winner in the 90's (Farve at QB).

Trade-o-Rama post came early this year.
Cousin after a dozen years or so of Trade-A Rama" this was a "tease"
It's just fun versus what we have been served so far by EW and JM.
Yuck.

I would keep it at Maye and Daniels . McCarthy may get there during his time in NFL but he is more of a work in progress when it comes to the NFL game especially as he came from a very run heavy Offense. We shall see

AN ALTERNATIVE
Use 12 for Nix or Penix. Get the one we want. It is not even clear athat any will be available at 34; besides, we want the option of a 5th year for a QB.

and 34 for the OT (or 34 plus a trade up)
=========
There are many alternatives if we don't like any of the top 4 QB's.
If that is the case, we should be able to get our QB, OT and several picks.
I have faith that the new management can evaluate QB's and know which ones they can succeed with.

The big question is whether we like any of the top 4 a lot over Nix nd Penix. My guess is that the is answer is a solid "yes".

@DW Toys consistently has the most entertaining OPs!

I dont think there is a dumb enough FO that would pick JJ in top 10. He is a backup in the NFL at best.

At this point, I have heard "rumors" that Washington is going to take Maye, take Daniels, take McCarthy, or trade down. It's almost as if this is the time of year you start hearing a lot of ********.

None of those scenarios are realistic. They CAN sign Jefferson even with the current dead cap. They are not giving BOTH first rounders and Jefferson, go on down the list and almost none of the proposed scenarios would the other team do.
Just not in the realm of possibility of it happening, never mind answering whether giving up one of the few franchise QB prospects for a JAG QB prospect is worth it,

Cousins

Im with you taking a QB late. Supposedly there's 4 - 5 and maybe 6 cant miss Franchise QBs if you listen to the draft Gurus. If BS was money, the draft experts would be billionaires. 50% of these QBs will be draft busts. Just go ask the Browns and Jets who have been there and done that. Finally, both franchises cut to the chase and acquired proven NFL franchise QBs with track records to prove it.

Id rather take Marv Harrison Jr at 3 and have him on a bargain contract.

I don’t think the Vikes are trading JJ plus 2 first round picks plus another pick to get to 3. I think they would want to pair the rookie QB with JJ.

I would keep it at Maye and Daniels . McCarthy may get there during his time in NFL but he is more of a work in progress when it comes to the NFL game especially as he came from a very run heavy Offense. We shall see
I keep hearing draft guys saying JJ is more ready because he plays under center. Apparently that dropback skill is a sticking point for many.

I think Harbaugh started the hype ball rolling on the kid.
