When CBs went down to injury, he won a SB w Troy Brown in the backfield. When the goal line stand was a pass, the UDFA made a pick on a play they practiced. BB took an intentional safety in Denver. He also made sure there was depth at most positions, just in case.
Yes, Brady was HUGE. BB is often discounted. That guy has “made up for a lot of shortcomings” as well. That includes running & defense in the 2018 season.
Still waiting for that rush of players to the Bucs that everyone was saying was a fait accompli. Been 3 days now.

I'm not sure that Tampa needs a lot on offense. So I'm not sure why there would be a line of players wanting to go there. They did sign a tackle which was a position of need. They could use a running back, but those can be had in the draft fairly easily. As for AB, I would not rule that out, but I'm sure every team will wait to see what the NFL doles out as punishment before checking into that.I too doubt the idea everyone is lining up to join Tampa, but is 3 days supposed to be a long time?

New info on the above, @supafly - just discovered JC will be an RFA next year, so the Pats can (and probably should) give him a first-round tender. I think that's somewhere around $5m IIRC, based on what I saw when the Saints did the same with Taysom Hill. So that gives the Pats another year of Jackson at a reasonable salary before needing to pay up.Yeah, that's the thing. JC has been great and will probably only get better. Deserves to be kept. But, they don't really have the money to do it (at least right now).
At the same time... The following positions have zero players signed next year:
- FB (pending the Vitale details)
- C
- PK
... and the following positions only have 1 player signed next year (ignoring P and LS):
- QB
- TE
- DT
- DE
- LB
So - while it may seem prudent to make a deal for Jackson that pushes his money into future years - they're gonna need that cash for these other positions too. Hate to say it, but maybe he's a trade candidate.
Good stuff! He should be a key piece moving forward. Some team would definitely sign him to a offer sheet and gladly hand over a first.New info on the above, @supafly - just discovered JC will be an RFA next year, so the Pats can (and probably should) give him a first-round tender. Viper's still trolling. He's said almost nothing but silly **** for a long time now (Yes, even longer than 3 days).
Well, it looks like the Pats are gonna have to get their WRs in the draft.
Still have the right of refusal. Match the contract and keep him. Some team would definitely sign him to a offer sheet and gladly hand over a first.
Extremely DEEP WR draft. We can get some in the 3rd round, or trade up to 2nd round to get one. Multiple picks MUST be spent on TEs (pass catching) and WRs. I don’t see the Pats drafting a QB high, unless Justin Herbert (or Jordan Love) falls to 23, which I doubt. A decent number of teams need QBs.God help us now.
We have a QB issue more than anything
True it will be a very pretty pennyStill have the right of refusal. Match the contract and keep him.
Bentley sucks.I actually do like the Copeland signing. He's not gonna blow anyone away but he can be a third LB behind Hightower and Bentley. Good move.
That is true, but I think with the space the Pats will have, it may discourage teams from making an offer. Figuring it is a wasted effort. "Why bother, the Pats will just match". Also, it will be a good thing if some other team wants to break the bank for him. It means he is playing unbelievable.True it will be a very pretty penny
