Gordon to IR

This gets worse if Jordan Richards gets resigned.

Well that most likely closes the books on Josh Gordon's time in NE.

17 games
60 catches
1007 yds
16.8ypc
58% catch %
4Tds

All said, thats a helluva lot more I thought they'd get out of him.
no one can say he didnt get 1K yards here..barely lol

The Harry - Sanu era is upon us. Hope the kid is ready.

IN: a rookie WR (Harry) and mid-season addition in Sanu (a decent #2 WR at best)

OUT: healthy All-Pro, Hall of Fame WR (Brown) and a solid-to-sometimes great WR in Gordon

In BB I trust. If YOU don't, you're a fool.
Edelman,Sanu, the new and improved Dorsett( dont kid yourselves, he's ballin),
Meyers(love this kid) and Harry is plenty. That's a MUCH better wr group than we had last year in the playoffs.
Yes, no Gronk. And no Develin. But Wynn is coming back and that's a HUGE upgrade at lt. Watson will contribute.
This offense will be fine.
And we got the Boogeymen.
I'm feeling it.

This is just a guess, but I imagine the Patriots decided Gordon was out of shape and his skills have declined (e.g. dropping lots of balls, not getting much separation) so they went to put him on IR to make a roster spot, assuming that with Meyers developing, Sanu here, and Harry on the way, Gordon would return from inuury to a place as a WR5 behind Edelman, Sanu, Dorsett, Meyers, and Harry, meaning likely a scratch as he offers no special teams value unlike WR5b Gunner.

Gordon, knowing he would be healthy enough to play later this year, instead requested an injury settlement once he's healthy. So the IR was the team's choice, the injury settlement Gordon's. Nothing to do with relapsing or anything, he just hasn't been effective this year and the offense looked no worse with Meyers sliding into his spot, and now two (hopefully) better players are on their way.

Gordon seems to disagree. What is the protocol for a player saying 'I'm healthy, release me from IR' and the team saying 'no you're not'?

That's just it. The two bone bruises and then the further knee injury says he's not healthy. He might be healthier than he was. But if he's not 100% the team can put him on the IR, which they did.

As for releasing Gordon, he probably has to pass a physical so that he couldn't turn around and file a grievance that they released him while he was still injured.

This sucks, but to be honest it is probably for the best.

Judging from what we saw from Meyers last game I would say he can give us close to what Gordon did this year for the most part. Gordon was not the same player much of the year.

This is 2 years in a row he looks to have worn down before the season ended. I wonder what his conditioning has been like.

They've had about a week-and-a-half to evaluate Harry, both physically and mentally.

Presumably they feel confident that Harry will be able to produce at or above the level of Gordon, which if true, has to be really encouraging and exciting for Pats' fans.

IF the Pats brought AB back.. would it stick? Would league say Eff Hugh??
You have a better chance of hitting the Powerball this weekend than seeing AB back in a Pats uniform ever again.

JE11 says hello. He's the#1 wr concern for any D.
He is also clearly injured and playing through a bunch of pain. Right now none of our receivers command double coverage. We've only had one completely healthy guy this season who needed to be double covered and we released him because the media was upset.

I agree. It's a conundrum. This is a solid BB head-scratcher.

Gordon looked a lot bigger and slower this year than last. Is it just me who thought that? I think he needs to lose 20-30 lbs to get some of that agility back.

You have a lot of concern over our how fast our #5WR develops.

We have Edelman, Dorsett, Sanu and Meyers.
