2018-19 Stanley Cup - Bruins vs Blues

Raleigh NC

The pollen here for last three weeks of April-ish is effing gross.

Impacts visibility on highway bad.
Same as Atlanta.

Pine trees.

i have seasonal allergies. those pictures look like a living hell on earth.
Me too. I’d die up there. Not because the pollen would kill me. That’s ridiculous. I’d just kill myself after a while of that.

Sharks are the only team that should give the Bruins trouble. If they don’t at least make the Finals it’s a failure. I still can’t believe they got the Hurricanes as an ECF opponent.

Hurricanes and Bruins are equally matched.

This should be a good series.

Equal is a stretch. Their forwards aren’t as good as ours and our goalie is better.

I tend to agree.

The Bs have better top end Offensive talent, but both teams have good depth. Canes have a really good forecheck and more speed.

I'd give a slight edge to the Canes on Defense (even with baby poop soft Dougie over there) but their special teams aren't very special.

Huge gap in goaltending. Say what you will about Tuukka, but he is head and shoulders better than Mrazek or Capt. Tabasco.

Have you read about the disgusting amount of pollen up there? If that poor guy has allergies, I legitimately feel bad for him.

I get a sinus pressure headache just looking at these pics.

It was totally insane in April but it is lovely here now :)

Equal in terms of points for and against.

It's pretty tight but Boston does have an edge.
Forwards +Boston (particularly depth)
Defense +Carolina (by a lot)
Goaltending + Boston (by not as much as you'd expect. McElhinney hot right now)
Special Teams +Boston (It's not even close. Sin Bin could be the Canes' kiss of death)
Coaching +Boston (not taking anything away from Brind'Amour but give me the experienced guy whose team still buys in big time over the 1st year guy every day of the week)

Just learned that Rod Brindamor is the head coach of Carolina. B's have no shot.

That's some profound analysis from a well informed hockey guy right there :D

Well as a Denverpatsfan maybe there’s a chance he could be an Avs fan still reeling from last nights loss?

Reeling from last night's loss for the past year that Brind'Amour has been the Canes coach?
That's some serious precognisant reeling.
BTW, how do you see the SJ/StL series playing out?

Gonna be a tough series; the sharks are definitely the biggest challenge to date. But I also like the fact that everyone’s counting us out, love the underdog role. I see it going 6-7 games not ready to pick the winner yet.

I will never understand the 'logic' that allows for counting out any team that made it past the first round.

Avs fans sure are sad today. I used to root for the Avs, but Denver sports fans have become so obnoxious over the past 6-years it's hard to cheer for them. I am pretty neutral when it comes to the Avs and Nuggets. The Celts ALWAYS lose here in Denver so I stopped spending my money going to see that game.

The Philly connection is what really grinds my gears. With living there for 12-years and then the SB a couple years ago I am Phillyed out. I used to cheer for the Eagles as long as they weren't playing the Pats. That is over. That feeling has carried over onto the other sports too. So to see the ex Flyer coaching against the Bruins made my head explode this morning.

That’s what’s happening not just on this board but across the nation. People are penciling in Boston and San Jose for the cup finals.

Sharks have a lot of scoring pop. Erik Karlsson was hurt a ton and is still rounding back into form. When he was healthy earlier this year, the team looked awesome. Offense is at its best with Burns blasting from the point and Pavelski, Hertl or Couture in front to redirect or clean up. Timo Meier had a great season, but peaked early. Evander Kane either looks amazing or like poop...no in between. Vlasic keeps chugging along as one of the top shutdown defenders in the world. Martin Jones started off this postseason shaky, but got good. If he plays like he did in '16, they're a shoo-in for the SCF.

Regards,
Chris

The Sharks have 4 players in the top 10 in scoring. No other team can claim that. Plus they may have the best set of defensemen of any team left in Burns, Karlsson, and Vlasic.

I didn't watch much of St. Louis this year. I'm guessing Vlasic locks up Taresenko and the Sharks forecheck tests their defense. Should be a good series. Not expecting any 5-4 type games.

Chris
i live outside St Louis and i am not impressed with the Blues at all. That being said, they keep winning so...
