He was outstanding for us and earned that. Good luck to him. It’ll be interesting to see what the Patriots offered. I’ll hazard an initial guess that it was nowhere remotely near that.

Well deserved no knock but I thought Trent Brown played LT a lot better than Nate Solder.

I don't think they offered anything. They knew that he played himself into a big contract and there is no point in lowballing someone.

The Raiders better hope he doesn't regress back to his 49ers self..

I don't think Solder and Brown were really far apart in the big picture of things. Solder was overall better in the run game and Brown better as pass protector. On their bad days each of them was worse than the other on an average day.

I'm shocked, but not surprised, if that makes sense.

Unbelievable. I'll bet Wynn outplays him for the next four years for less money than Brown will making in 10 games.

For those who Disagree with this, remember, a good pocket QB who gets rid of the ball quickly is a big part of the stats reported on an OL. For a tackle, so is blocking scheme, TE responsibility, and the guard standing next to him.

Wynn's time now.

Yeah. I'm a little concerned that he's coming off a torn achilles though. Those don't heal quickly and he's a big guy which compounds the issue. We may be looking at starting the year with LaArian Waddle starting. Assuming they can resign him.

So, in summary:

We didn't pay our cornerstone LT a 16M/yr contract and let him walk in FA.

We drafted the LT of of the future with our first round pick.

We moved down about 50 slots (late 3rd to 5th) in the draft for a mammoth starting LT who gave us 19 solid games.

We picked up a comp 3rd rounder for losing our cornerstone LT who actually didn't play very well down in New Jersey.

Now our LT of the future is coming off an Achilles heel injury, but had shown enough promise and would likely have started at RT early last season if he weren't injured.

Damn, the Patriots are good.....elite LT play for the last 2 seasons...didn't even pay top dollar...and picked up a 3rd.

I can only emphasize that this not a situation where the team will be surprised by where ever he is when OTAs / camp starts. He has had regular checkpoints for his recovery so the team knows where he is right now and can project where he should be in June. And with every passed checkpoint that projection gets more precise.

Good for him, the Raiders overpaid badly but we don't win the SB without him so he earned it as far as I'm concerned.

Come to the Patriots and grow rich.

How many more will cash in for the big payday?

Your welcome Trent. Ill be awaiting my cut for cheering you on last year and contributing to your good 2018 season.

Sincerely,
Grateful fan

I wish the guy well. And I thought BB should've gotten him signed. But not at that price. No way. Signing him to that mammoth deal would've hurt the Pats cap.
