I will be downvoted to oblivion and banned, but this dynasty is over

This is it guys. This was Brady’s last year honestly to win a SB. It’s done honestly. It’s just done. I’m so depressed. Up 33-32 all this defense had to ****ing do was hold them just ONCE.

The dynasty is finished honestly. And a big f you to our crappy defensive coach who I refuse to state his name. Also well done BB benching your starting cornerback. Disgraceful.

Now If you’ll excuse me I’ll puke more. Worst SB Loss since 2007.

Personally, I would have found a blow-out loss easier to take. But this one is just maddening, how our coaching staff basically threw the game. Even if Malcolm was sluggish in practice, he'd been the starter all season long and had the rapport with the rest of the defense. How on earth do you change your starter minutes before the Super Bowl? And then fail to put the starter back in when his replacement is falling flat on his face? Bill's the greatest coach in football, but he gave this game away, apparently for no reason at all. The facts recited in this USA Today article are enough to keep you up at night:

"This was a game in which the Patriots did not punt once. Tom Brady threw for a Super Bowl-record 505 yards and added three touchdowns. The Patriots compiled 613 yards of offense, another Super Bowl record. New England posted 33 points – the second-most it has ever scored in a Super Bowl, behind only last year’s 34-point performance in overtime against the Falcons. Sunday's output also set a Super Bowl mark for the highest total scored by a team that lost.

"Said cornerback Eric Rowe, the man who replaced Butler in the starting lineup: “We could’ve used anybody.”

Rowe, for his part, said he did not know he was going to start until right before kickoff.

“Yeah, I was,” Eagles receiver Torrey Smith told USA TODAY Sports when asked if he was surprised that Butler was benched. “I didn’t really spend much time watching (Rowe) to be honest with you. I was expecting to see more of Malcolm Butler, but I guess they wanted to go with bigger guys on the outside. That’s their decision.”

Said Eagles defensive end Chris Long: “Malcolm Butler didn't play? That's tough, man. He's a helluva player.”

Could have used either tbph

I’m excited about this offense in 2018 assuming Gronk returns. Adding Edelman and Mitchell? Yes please. We’re looking at a major overhaul on defense. We know we’re looking for a corner opposite gilmore (please Seattle release Sherman) but I suspect we’re retooling the safety spots as well. And DT LB should be high draft needs.
Honestly, I don’t see Mitchell as an option. His knees are shot. Edelman is 32 coming off a major knee injury. Amendola is 32 and a free agent. Gronk is a question mark. If you’re talking about not knowing about coming back, that’s a major problem. Hopefully Bennett will play with the Pats. Didn’t hear Allen’s name all game, did he play ?

So offensively, TE, WR and obviously QB is something that’s problematic areas. Cooks only has 1 year left on his contract. EVERY draft pick needs to be spent on defense, yet now TE, WR and QB have to be priorities as well. It’s not a good spot to be in. Hopefully free agency can help as well.

I don’t think the dynasty is over. I’m tragically bummed but this is not like 07 to me. I don’t use injuries and stuff for excuses but there’s a tipping point. Making it to the super bowl actually surprised me. Once you remove high and Edelman and start losing tons of players for the year there’s a point where you can not recover from it all

The chatter is that McDaniels may be staying, and a new defensive mind was desperately needed anyway, as evidenced by tonight's stellar performance of allowing an inferior team to score on 80% of their drives and beat us despite the fact that we did not punt once during the entire game and Brady set a Super Bowl yardage record. Tom, Bill, and the core offense are coming back; Gronk's almost certainly coming back; Edelman will be back; Hightower will be back. We'll be just fine.

We didn't want to pay them what they're worth. It's a business. End of story.

You're not going to be banned - but your thread is going to be closed.

I'm obviously disappointed too but I have a hard time believing it's over just yet. So let's move on.
