This is not meant to be exhaustive, just the prospects that interest me for the Pats.

1. Trade Up Worthy

Obi Melifonwu
Marcus Maye
Tarrell Basham
Jordan Willis
Tyus Bowser

2. Trade Up Worthy-ish

Josh Jones
Zach Cunningham
Budda Baker
Chidobe Awuzie

3. Pick 72

Raekwon Mcmillan
Daeshon Hall
Teez Tabor
Ryan Anderson
Desmond King
Carl Lawson
Adam Shaheen
Sidney Jones

4. Pick 96

Dalvin Tomlinson
Demarcus Walker
Montravius Adams
Jake Butt
Cam Sutton
George Kittle

There are others I kinda like, but this is a quick look at whom I'd target. It's 6am after being up all night so I probably missed some.

At least one of Basham, Bowser, Baker, Awuzie, Tabor, Shaheen or Kittle please. Want one binkie chosen !

I think Ryan Anderson will be picked with 72 or 96 depending on how they see his draft range. If some of those fall I wouldn't be surprised if they use some of the 2018 resources to maneuver a bit to make sure they get the player they want.

Manx, if you were a betting man what time would you advise I set my alarm for?

That's a pretty good list. I would like to trade up but unless its just a couple of spots I'm not sure we have the draft capital this year. Perhaps a future pick or player might do it but I'm not sure thats Bill's MO.

Both 3rds might get us to 55, or the 4th might get us to 64. Of course it depends who is on the board but I think I would prefer to stand pat and see whats left at 72. Only player I would trade up for is Sidney Jones, if he fell to around the 60 range. Potentially getting a 1st round talent is worth the trade as long as his medical checked out.

I think there's a reasonable chance that the Browns may spend their #52 on a QB. I wonder if they'd take Brissett in preference to whichever QB prospect remains from this class?

I don't see the Browns taking a QB now - or at least not one in the top few rounds. I also don't see us trading Brissett.

I don't see many Patriots who we would be happy to let go and would be decent trade chips. Dion Lewis maybe. I'll throw Malcom Brown out there as a wild card but pretty unlikely.

IDK.

The Browns' QB roster is currently ..

Osweiler
Cody Kessler
Kevin Hogan

Seems to me that they'd want to at least try to upgrade that.

Brissett seems like he could be significantly better than any of the remaining QBs from this class, and he's almost "surplus" for the Pats at this point.

I like your list. What do you think about the linebacker from ohio

I think if they do trade up significantly into the 2nd, I think they'll do it by trading Malcolm Butler.

I'd be ecstatic with Tabor at #72. The Patriots would be able to afford to ease him in and it makes it easier to part company with Butler in 2018, if that's what ends up transpiring.

It feels like Round 2 will be a blood bath where all the high-end binkies get selected before the Patriots are on the clock in Round 3. Will be brutal I fear when your most hated team picks your most loved prospect.

There are going to be some really interesting guys on the board when we start picking in round 3.

My two binkies are still available in Ryan Anderson and Desmond King.

There are the two extremely talented CB's that will slide due to injury, Sidney Jones and Fabian Moreau

There are the two former very highly regarded Florida CB's in Quincy Williams and Teez Tabor (as well as probably another half dozen really interesting CB's).

There seem to be interesting guys available at almost every position so I expect to get a couple of good players out of this draft

Moreau has really grown on me. I wouldn't mind him at 72, depending on who is still on the board. He's crazy athletic.

Scouting reports I've read on Moreau rarely fail to mention that he's very good in run defense and a very good tackler. If he can play man/press-man, he seems to be a BB type.

Following Manx format.

Trade up for (before mid second)

No one IMO is worth it.

Trade up for (after mid 2nd)

Lamp - OL
Cunningham - LB
Bowser - Edge
Obi - S
Baker - S
Awuzie - CB
Robinson - OT

Trade up for late 2nd/before 72

Willis - DE
Q Wilson - CB
Walker - DE

Should be interesting. I am sure some of these guys will fall deep into the 3rd just cause you never know :p

The first round went about as well as I could hope for, really. All my top targets are still available. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the trade-down strategy we've seen in the past (out of the 1st for multiple 2nds) is the smartest way to approach the draft, unless there's a specific player that you simply must have.

I do think a lot of the prospects we like will start flying off pretty quickly and we might get left with the pieces. the good news, is that the pieces are pretty good this year. I can see Melifonwu, Maye, Basham and Willis all gone by the end of the 2nd and those are the ones I really want.
