Should TB12 throw out the first pitch at Sox home opener Monday?

It's bizarre to see all the aminosity to the Red Sox here. I don't really get it. I'm a Patriots fan first and foremost, but even though my love for baseball isn't anywhere near where it once was, you can bet I'll still be rooting for the Sox. Same goes for the Bruins and Celtics.

Not sure if it's insecurity stemming from the fact that for a sizeable chunk of the 2000s Boston was definitely a "Baseball town," but it's really off-putting to see.

No it's the fact that Red Sox own the globe and the globe is always taking shots at the Pats.

That's asinine reasoning. Talk about throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

The amount of times that paper has taken shots at the Patriots since the Henry and co. bought it does not make it asinine. I like the Red Sox, utterly despise their owners.

How do they compare to say Tomase(2007) or Borges at the Herald?

I look at as Brady and the Pats going to Fenway and basically gloating and tea bagging the Red Sox.

Because you know it makes the Red Sox ownership seeth. Here's the Pats with their 5th title and 2 in the last 3 and they are wondering if their $200m pitcher is gonna hold up.

3 World Series of their own is nothing to sneeze at, especially since the previous ownerships couldn't win one in 80 years. I'm sure they'd love to have 5 of course, but I highly doubt they're seething with anger at the Pats success.

How is the Sox heading into the season? I don't follow the baseball off season at all.

The way starting pitchers--and key relievers, are going down for the Sox, Tom Brady might have to throw out more than just the FIRST PITCH.

What a history of pitching woes on this team. To boot, they never produce their own best pitchers, but rather get them in trades and free agency and, as we know, many of these don't even pan out.

They won the Rex Ryan vaunted, "We won the offseason" award when they traded for Chris Sale to go along with the existing pitching staff. Pablo Sandoval also won the Rex Ryan offseason weight loss award.

They're now about to perform his tandem "disappointing regular season and clown show organizaiton" award as the rest of pitchers are all hurt. David Price hasn't pitched yet in March due to injury which included a visit to Dr. James Andrews. Drew Pomeranz is out. New set up man Tyler Thornberg is out and blaming the Red Sox training program for his injuries.

Are they actively criticizing the Patriots on behalf of Red Sox ownership? I don't see any real evidence of that. Sure the Red Sox ownership probably wants their team to be the spotlight of the town but not much more than that.

No. I say it's bubble wrap and avocado IV's from now to September.

:D

Tom Brady and the NEP shouldn't be in attendance on opening day and throw out the 1st pitch because the Boston Globe writes bad things about them!!o_Oo_Oo_O

Love that Logic!! Maybe Tom Brady and the Pats can play twiddly dinks instead!!

I'd prefer Brady not sully himself with loser organizations who have to buy the local paper to try to compete for public affection.

Not to mention that TB12 might catch their cooties.

The title of the thread is asking a question about Tom Brady throwing out a pitch at a Sox game. That will quite naturally attract some non-MLB people, like me.

Apparently, there's also some animosity toward the Globe from some Pats fans because of the slanted coverage. I'm not one of those. I hate the Globe for other reasons.

I played and coached baseball for half a century, but MLB lost me with a strike, the DH, steroids, guaranteed contracts and the lack of a salary cap. Seeing the Yankees buy titles was infuriating and the DH/steroids combination totally wiped out any chance of comparing players.

There are times when we as Pats fans bemoan the fact that the NYFL keeps tinkering with the rules and turning some folks off. MLB did that to me to the point of no return years ago.

Sure. Put Roger at up at bat and have him crowd the plate. Then just let the right thing happen.

I hate the globe too. Not the planet, the paper, just to be clear.

Have David Price lob the 1st pitch in.
Might be the only time Saux fans see the $200 million goof on the mound in the next 2 years.
I wish they could cut/trade that wussy.

My teenage daughters are more mentally tough than he is by a country mile.
