Pats 4th round pick this draft

When the Patriots made the draft pick trade with Seattle a year ago, BB was in essence saying to the nyjfl 'screw you; you want to steal a draft pick it will be our 5th, not our 4th'.

Hmm, but they traded three picks (196, 204 and 250) for pick 147 and then traded that 147 and 243 for 225 (Lucien) and Seattle's 2017 4th rounder.

So that means the three late round picks became Lucien and protection for our #128 pick this year. Someone who knows how to value those picks might be able to figure out if that is good value or not...

I can't see why we can't have the option of moving the latter 4th as one already been forfeited. It's unfathomable they would restrict you twice like that. Take the f'kn Seattle pick, you crooks, and then let the Pats do as they wish with the latter.

Also: If they allow the Pats to trade their own 4th, after the Seattle pick is forfeited, then what can they do if the Pats trade for the rights of a player drafted ahead of the Seattle pick? It would be like working out a trade with the Pats and then drafting for them so they can later trade those rights.

I'm sure that BB will trade Seattle's 4th for other picks, but let's take a look and see if there are any disgruntled superstars on bad teams that want to be traded.... *cough* Marty.... Randy

Certain other owners were mad that the Patriots were still able to make a top-ten pick in 2008 (Jerod Mayo), despite stealing the Pats' first round draft pick that year. So the NYJFL edited the wording in future cases when 345 Park Avenue decided they wanted to steal a team's draft pick.

As for working out a trade, two problems. First, the league has to approve all trades, and they would likely say no to this scenario. Second, there is a 'rookie pool' within the salary cap. Miguel and some others could explain the minutiae, but trades of this type are not feasible.

By the way, has any other team who had a draft pick forfeited had this restriction placed in it? It is literally a reaction to the #10 pick in 2008. The patriots are being singled out for that one occurrence.

Yeah thats why. They want to make sure they stick it to us nice and good.

No, but there has been a team who had its pick "devalued", but restricted so it can't be more devalued by more than 12 picks.

Bunch of jackasses in the NFL front office.

I think it shows that this was not about punishment.

If you spank your child that could be punishment. Following that up with pouring hot sauce down his pants would not be.
