Frank Edelman weighs in

Edelman had a real transformation over the last part of the season and playoffs. With teams concentrating on taking away all of his usual underneath routes and no Gronk to take their attention, Edelman became a different receiver. He averaged over 15 yards a catch in the playoffs, instead of his usual 10.5 YPC. Also 115 yards per game. Many longer and slower developing routes, the kind the supposed "elite" receivers run. And he made it work, even with teams like the Texans and Falcons determined to take him away. I think people used to snicker and say "that's nice" when Edelman was suggested as a top-5 WR. They aren't snickering now.

Keymouth took the absolutely 100% bigoted stance that Edelman is a nice little white player that couldn't play on any team but the Pats.

He and Cris Carter should have their mouths superglued shut

Agreed. Although in this instance Cris Carter has been on the polar opposite side of the argument, lauding Edelman and, like Sanders, calling the dismissive attitude toward him racist.

Keyshawn is the only player I can renember who's team told him to bother showing up any more.

Who is Keyshawn Johnson? A foot note?

If you want to have a conversation with someone do it in a personal message, no need to try and call someone out in a thread. Or you could just take your dislike on this random patriots forum and move on with your life

sorry, hit the wrong button!

Good thing he "called him out" so he could correct his mistake.

There was a lot pent-up sh*t this team had.

Yeah, you really get that feeling. The Pats have been low key overall, but there is still a sense that they're satisfied somewhat with the "**** you" this whole run has been to 345 Park Ave.

I've been saying for 3 years that JE 11 is a top 5 wr in the NFL. Julio Jones is the ONLY wr I can say I would absolutely take over Jules.

You can't compare JE11 to chrebet. JE is a far superior athlete. Chrebet was a slot rec. JE is not and never has been purely a slot rec. He catches more balls outside the #s than in. He lines up all over the field. Runs like a punishing rb. He's more like Antonio brown than he is like chrebet or Welker.

Between the fire Goodell hat Amendola was wearing at the parade, the clown Goodell shirt that Matt Patricia was wearing. Yeah, it was down there bubbling under the surface. I think people were really angry for Brady. That this legend's reputation was wrongfully tarnished by people who aren't worthy to lick his shoes.

That's a very good point. Edelman got some pretty different utilization as you've pointed out - quite a few times he made a middle-deep play or a sideline play where I found myself thinking "wow, that's an 'elite' receiver move/route." Was it the Texans or Steelers game where he made that one sideline catch, it was some totally insane body control.

He's actually a hell of a receiver. His athleticism is truly impressive and I think he's gotten tougher/more sturdy over the last couple years. One of my favorite Patriots ever. I hope he can keep it going for a few more years - and I hope the Pats extend him and give him a raise, too.

I was chatting with a buddy on Sunday afternoon. I said in our offense I would take our 11 over theirs. JE will make plays that matter more. I was right although he had a lot more targets and I'd love to have Jones. He is a better WR just felt JE was the man for the Super Bowl. I felt pretty stupid when Jones was making his insane catches and JE was doing very little.

The sideline catch against Denver was sweet as hell.

Was it Denver? I was drawing a blank against which team it was against. I just recall the catch itself and how amazing it was.

This was the one I was thinking of.
