The only thing I have to say about this is that didn't we hear the same stuff about David Terrell last year?
We heard about a good attitude, etc, but also that he looked slow and un-sudden compared to the other WR. We'll see what the reports say after the reporters see him running drills in camp.

Yea i remember Felger commenting on Terrell during the drills. He was saying how deon was crisp and looked like a #1 WR, while david looked real slow. Hope reche can do better.

Patriots talk here - anyone playing ? Or is this the Steeler board now ?

This reminds me of when...

In 1997 rookie mini-camp, coaches were concerned when Chris Canty was getting torched by UDFA WRs.

Last year, didn't the media report that Duane Starks looked less than stellar in TC?

I truly hope he seizes this opportunity and becomes the player that many believe he is capable of. Because if that happens and Jackson has a solid rookie season then our WR corps will be very, very good.

I still don't get a warm fuzzy feeling because that is a lot of ifs.

Although the depth at wideout is alarming, Brady doesn't need stars. I read an opinion somewhere that Belichick would rather have slightly 'under the radar' wideouts rather than the true #1's who won't appreciate spreading the ball and sharing stats. I am sure that Belichick would like a true #1, but Brady's offense does not depend on it. He won a superbowl with Troy Brown, Dave Patten and Antowain Smith, for crying out loud! I'd rather have a few Reche's or Given's than one T.O. in this offense. Caldwell can help us by simply doing what he is told, and sharing the ball with other #2 wideouts on the team. I hope he can block!

We really do seem a little low on wideouts, however!

I didn't. I heard that Terrell was slow and looked robotic on the field.

The clinical term I believe is "Bledsoe-like".

Also it was Brady himself who complimented Caldwell, not some outsider form the media. Brady knows specifically what the team is looking for, and he also sees the off the field progress of a player in the film and meeting rooms. While this is certainly a good sign we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves because no one doubts that Caldwell has tons of talent, but being talented and looking good on the practice field doesn't mean it will translate to the field. Regardless it is still good news.

"Terrell has been hailed by teammates and Belichick for his speed and endurance. No matter how many routes he runs, he never seems to tire, they say." Globe - 8/3/05

"He's a big, physical target, and he's really making some plays in camp,'' Brady said. "He's improved, and I'd love to see what he's capable of. We've thrown a lot of balls to each other over the years. It seems like we've picked up where we left off. It's good to have him back.''
--------
He's tough and doesn't ever want to come out for a play,'' coach Bill Belichick said. "He's got very good stamina, and he goes full speed from the beginning of practice to the end.

"His work ethic and overall understanding of the system and so forth, I've been very impressed with. He's working hard.''

I take what players/coaches say in passing camp and the first weeks of TC with a grain of salt. The real tests come in game situations.
