Patriots running back Shane Vereen came up big on Sunday during New England's win over the Bills, but it appears it may be a while before we see him again.
According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, the veteran suffered a broken bone in his wrist, which now reportedly requires surgery and will keep him out at least a few weeks.
What's probably the most impressive about the news is that Vereen reportedly suffered the injury on the first play he was in the game, which was a nine yard reception he caught for a first down on New England's third offensive series. He managed to stay in the game and still rushed for 101 yards on 14 carries, including a crucial 15 yard gain at the end of regulation that helped set up Stephen Gostkowski's game winning kick. He also caught seven passes for 58 yards.
Glazer reports that Vereen experienced numbness after the game as the bone reportedly sits on a nerve.
Needless to say it's one reason to appreciate the effort Vereen put out there yesterday, but unfortunately it looks like he'll be out for the foreseeable future.
