    Defensive End.

Early candidates that I like are Allen Bailey and Cameron Heyward.

Both have ideal size for the 3-4 DE position and good motors. Both are playing at big schools (The U and Ohio State)

Bailey is a bit more raw, but has tremendous upside. He's a very lean 290lbs (could easily put on more weight) and is excellent at getting to the QB. I like his hustle and natural abilities.

Heyward is a better run stuffer. He's been compared to Richard Seymour a lot, which is rare.

if we finally go OLB/DE then keep an eye on Robert Quinn and Greg Romeus.

    No Jersey Selected

We have Bodden signed for a few more years. I'd like to see us go O-Line or DE with the first pick in the draft (though I would make an exception for Mark Ingram... my binky). If it were DE, I would go with Heyward in a hot minute.

I'm not sure on the Raider pick yet although I do think it should be on the Line somewhere either D or O. I really like Thomas out of KSU, although I don't know where he will be projected to go yet. If Carolina continues to suck we could have a very high 2 and that seems like a good fit for him.

We need to go OLB/DE and grab that playermaker on defense.

If I was a betting man; BB will trade back as always for VALUE.

Is Ingram really a top ten pick? He plays on a high profile team loaded with talent that makes me wonder if his value is skewed.

Absolutely. He's not the fastest or the biggest, but he's strong, balanced, and extremely instinctive. I've watched roughly half a dozen of his full games, plus some highlight reels, and I'm convinced that he's special. His ability to set up his blockers, make cuts at full speed--many backs gear down to change direction, while Ingram usually maintains his full momentum--and shed arm tackles with ease enables him to dominate his opposition. In addition, he's a high character young man with an exceptional attitude and work ethic. I think he's worth the high investment.

ARGH! I can't stand to read these threads because I get way to into it. It is too early to start doing this because it becomes such an obsession for me. I feel like it would be odd to grab another corner high up if Bodden will be back. If the guy is going to be a Champ Bailey or Rod Woodson then lets get him but I would rather see us pick up a stud d lineman. RB should also be chosen in the first.

That's the thing, though: Amukamara and Peterson have that kind of elite, possibly even HOF upside. Obviously that's a best case scenario, but I believe it's true regardless. I prefer Amukamara, but a good case can be made for either player.

I just hope it's a defensive player. We can wait for a running back. The only offensive player I want high in the draft is a stud tackle. I'd also like a interior player at some point who's superior to our last few developmental guys, but that can probably wait till the late second/early third.

Agreed, I think the O line is a pressing need. No more Mankins, Light and Neal are long in the tooth. They can't run the ball for crap against the better teams in the NFL its not surprising they can't hold a lead.

If we were to address our interior O-line in the first, I'd like to see us get Mike Pouncey with our original pick. This guy could help us in a number of ways: 1) He could man the LG spot and allow Connolly to play as a reserve; 2) In the event that Neal would be injured, he could fill in there; OR 3) We could groom him to be Koppen's replacement and draft another G/C in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Romeus is out for most/all of the 2010 Pitt season with recent back surgery. The Panthers are hoping to get him back by the Backyard Brawl (Thanksgiving week), but I would be extraordinarily hesitant to spend a hypothetical top-10 pick on a guy with a bad back. Now, I would be willing to risk a pick in the late 1st or early 2nd on him, but his back scares me off with the Raider's hoped for high 1st rounder.

As much as I'd like them to draft a guy like AJ Green, Michael Floyd, Prince Amukamara or Patrick Peterson, I would rather see them get a stud DE or OLB. We don't have enough talent on the front seven right now, especailly on the outside.

Excellent thought, I could not agree more. A gifted stud DE that can command a double team is exactly what the doctor ordered for our team.
