Trust me, Kelvin Sampson has been labeled a cheater. I don't know what the reaction is up there, but here in Indy they are calling for his head. He is getting absolutely crushed by the local media and even the fans inside Assembly Hall (IU's gym). IMO, he won't be employed by IU after next Tuesday.
I live south of Bloomington and, trust me, he's not catching any breaks down here, either. Nor should he.
I was 9 years old when Keith Smart hit that corner jump shot to beat Rony Seikaly and Syracuse and win the 1987 National Championship, and I've been a diehard Hoosier fan ever since. From Jay Edwards to Eric Gordon, Bob Knight to Kelvin Sampson, I've rooted for my Hoosiers through thick and thin.
And I can say, without hesitation or qualification, that, IMO, Kelvin Sanction must be fired, immediately. And the AD, Alan Greenspan, should go right along with him. They have brought shame to a university that hasn't even had an ALLEGATION of impropriety in ANY sport since the 60's and they must pay the price. I don't care if IU has 15 straight losing seasons as a result, Sampson HAS TO GO.
The general consensus around here is that he'll be gone by the end of this week and either Dan Dakich or Ray Mcallum will finish out the season. Both have been head coaches before.
I hope that is what happens, I really do.
