Wes Welker: Is He Canton Bound

Sure. He'll get in...if he buys a ticket.

I love Wes Welker and think that he gets a bad wrap around here. After all, the team cuts players all of the time with no remorse. The moves mostly get applauded by the fanbase. A player voices some unhappiness with the team and immediately he is the bad guy (even if he had been a tremendous contributor).

Even with that being said, it's the HALL OF FAME and not the HALL OF VERY GOOD.

No. He was good within the system and played his role well. He parlayed that into a string of several years with a boatload of catches. But no HOF for him.

T. Owens didn't make it in his first year. Took Cris Carter a long time from what I remember. So I don't think Welker makes it.

Looking at his numbers during that five year span, he probably deserves to get in. But he will not.

It's a really close call. I don't blame Welker as much as many for the playoff/SB shortcomings, but having a ring on his resume might have put him just over the edge. Fans sure would be more passionate in trying to get him into Canton if he had a ring, that's for sure, fair or not.

He is the greatest slot receiver of all time by a pretty large margin, so he has a case. Unfortunately they do devalue this position in Canton, so it's unclear if he gets in. I think he should (there are too many qbs that aren't very good in the HoF, not enough good receivers in general).

Still, within football circles, it's pretty clear that if you were making a team with the 'best' players of all time, i'm pretty sure he'd be on the roster.

I think the position is valued appropriately in Canton. To confirm, look at Wes and Julian's last contracts.

Nope, as good as his six year peak was, the body of work just isn't there. There are a lot of WRs waiting to get into the hall who were excellent players for a lot longer than six years.

no. There are plenty of WRs waiting to get in.

Also welker for the most part was good in the playoffs. The problem was the offensive line largely being a disaster in those losses from 07-12

I'm a small hall type of person in all sports so I say no
