"Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow is a candidate to be the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, who fired Dennis Green on Monday. Titans Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Monday night that the Cardinals had contacted the Titans and were granted permission to speak with Chow. Fisher had no other comment. Chow, who just finished his second season with Tennessee, coached Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart at Southern Cal, and his handling of rookie quarterback Vince Young this season has earned him national recognition."

=====================

If this happens, it is a great move for the Cardinals. Norm Chow, by most media accounts, is a great offensive mind, and he groomed Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and helped Vince Young win NFL Rookie of the Year.

That could be one scary offense with Norm Chow at the helm. That would almost remind me of the Rams during their "Greatest Show on Turf" days.

For some reason I've recently been really interested in Cardinals news after Dennis Green was fired. I just looked this Chow guy up, since all I knew about him was his work at USC, and all I can say is... WOW! He has got to be one of the most qualified head coach candidates ever:

- Successfully developed Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Carson Palmer, Philip Rivers, Steve Young, Ty Detmer, and Jim McMahon. The guy has had offensive success wherever he's gone.
- Coached 6 of the top 16 all-time NCAA QB's in passing efficiency.

I don't really have a point to this, except to say I would be interested to see what he could do with an entire team. He seems to be a bright mind like Bill Walsh and Belichick.

I would rather see another defensive master at the helm than an offensive wizard. Defense wins championships.

Whoever takes the Cardinals job I wish him all the best cause he will need it thats one team that invents new ways to lose games and its not all about the coaching.

He's older than Belichick I think, I doubt he would be interested in that deal, and anyways defense wins championships.

Chow is one the best quarterback coaches in the history of the game, and a great OC. He will sell out the new stadium (with the additional of an OL or two as NEM says). However, that won't win championships. There is nothing to give us reason to believe than Chow would be a good HC. Personally, I would prefer someone with experience on both sides of the ball.

Chow hasn't even been hired yet and in many circles is really an unknown quantity in this position. Need to see how he manages a team, if he can bring the Az franchise back to some modicum of respectability then maybe he will deserve more respect. I don't see the heir apparent to BB as an offensive wizard, as flashy as it looks, I prefer a solid D.

This is just like the Cardinals....going for the flashy HC. IMO Chow would be a disaster as the Cardinal HC. He is a great OC and that is where he should remain.

This reminds me of when the Cardinals brought in Buddy Ryan as HC after all his DC publicity. I liked Buddy as a person but he was not HC material. This hire would be Buddy Ryan II except from the Offensive specialist side. The Cardinals need to hire an experienced HC and use some money to bring in some good, solid, assistant coaches. We see how big of an impact that is with Dante and the Pats OL. The Cardinals ponied up the money for Denny Green but never did open the purse strings for assistants....and it showed.

Hey NEM....how did you develop this love for Davis? :confused: He got ripped most of the year on the local talk shows because of his "statuesque" play at LT. The majority of fans I talk to are of the same opinion I am on Davis....keep him at the right price and move him to OG or RT...but get him off LT before he gets Leinhart killed. I would hate to see Davis on the Pats. He couldn't start anywhere for us except RG and if O'Callaghan or Kaczur improve on this year, I think that would be questionable. Luckily, the Cardinals are in such need of OL help, they will pay to keep him and work the draft/free agent market for a true LT.

You guys understand you're talking about the Arizona Cardinals, right?

Don't waste your engery. They will screw it up as sure as day follows night. You're better off watching thigh-master infomercials than using brain cells to think about whether or not Norm Chow would be good for the Cards.

They'd score 1000 points a year but knowing the Cardinals orginization make Duane Starks their star defensive player.
