It's time for the the annual predict the Patriots season record contest. Winner will receive :rocker:. anyone who predicts the exact w/l and scores will receive :rocker::rocker:.

Here are the rules: Yes, there has to be rules:

1.Go through the schedule above and predict the game the Patriots will win or lose by team, giving you a final season record for the Patriots

    2. After you complete #1 you can go on and predict playoffs teams, AFCCG's, NFCCG's and SB, but only after you have completed #1.

Good luck and may the wind be at your back. This thread will be closed the morning of 9/9 and bumped on occasion during the year, if I'm doing well with my predictions.

I can't really predict any losses with this schedule the way it is truth be told, maybe Baltimore, but without Suggs that tend to be good for a sack or two, I don't really see it. Maybe San Fran, but having to travel from the west coast all the way to Foxboro, I wouldn't bet against the Pats there. Houston maybe the best shot at a loss for the Pats IMO, and maybe having to travel all the way to Seattle?

Yes, Bears aren't in my division champs, but I think they go 12-4, earning a playoff birth, and perform well!

I don't do game by game predictions. I said 12-4 at the beginning of training camp and I will stick with it.

Like others, not going to do game predictions. 13-3 for the season, based in part on the SOS.

But what a hard year to predict. McDaniels has unveiled absolutely nothing nothing yet. Based on the preseason, you would have to predict the Pats will have one of the worst offenses in the league.

Most hard to predict IMO is how effective the O-line will be. (please come back Waters, and stay healthy Vollmer!).

Record prediction in more detail :13-3

That Baltimore game could go either way.

1 - at Tennessee Titans September 9 - Win. First start for Locker will be a rough one.
2 - vs. Arizona Cardinals September 16 - Win. No offense in Phoenix to speak of. They just won't be able to catch up.
3 - at Baltimore Ravens September 23 - Win. BB gives a big smile to Ed Reed after the game
4 - at Buffalo Bills September 30 - Loss. Buffalo looks like a different and confident team. They want to beat us more than we want to beat them.
5 - vs. Denver Broncos October 7 - Win. Before the season this game was touted as the best of the year. In reality Manning legacy begins it's decline while he fights through taking a year off and trying to build a chemistry with his new team.
6 - at Seattle Seahawks October 14 - Win. No QB to speak and their offense won't be able to keep up.
7 - vs. New York Jets October 21 - Win. Wouldn't surprise me if Tebow was starting at this point.
8 - at St. Louis Rams October 28 - Win. Rams don't even want to be in London. Patriots have done it before.
    9 - Bye
10 - vs. Buffalo Bills November 11 - Win. Learned a lot from the last Buffalo game and we are able to find the Bills weaknesses
11 - vs. Indianapolis Colts November 18 - Win. In a barn burner
12 - at New York Jets November 22 - Win. Sanchez wins his starting job back though
13 - at Miami Dolphins December 2 - Win. Dolphins will be playing better than earlier in the year, but still can't score more than 20 points.
14 - vs. Houston Texans December 10 - Loss. Houston has stayed healthy throughout the year and is best in the AFC
15 - vs. San Francisco 49ers December 16 - Loss. Playoffs are locked in at this point
16 - at Jacksonville Jaguars December 23 - Win. Jax is playing for a draft pick
17 - vs. Miami Dolphins December 30 - Win. Miami is playing for a draft pick

Individually, I would predict the Patriots to win every game they'll play this year, because I think that they're better than any of the teams that they're facing. For overall record, I'd probably say 13-3 again.

I think one can still make an overall W-L projection. We just forfeit the opportunity to win the highly coveted :rocker: or :rocker::rocker: awards.

I'm not smart enough to predict each game, plus I think one day we will figure out how a butterfly flapping its wings in China actually does have something to do with the outcome of an NFL game in Foxboro a week later.

I look at the schedule and wouldn't be surprised if we lose two Division games, not that any of those other teams are better than us, just that it's the division and funny stuff happens.

I look at the rest of the schedule and kind of like it, especially since there are only four Prime Time games and three late afternoon games, meaning our guys can play most often when BB likes to play and when God intended that NFL games be played (it's right there in the Old Testament, but you gotta look for it), 1:00 on Sunday. Still, there are some pretty good teams there and there are always surprises, so, on the principle of "Any Given Sunday," I have us losing two non division games as well.

That adds up to 12--4, assuming they have something to play for in the final game.

As for the other playoff teams and Championship game participants, considering that a 15--1 and a 13--3 team lost their first Playoff games last year, considering that the 8--8 Broncos Tebowed the 12--4 Steelers and that a 9--7 team won the whole thing, who the **** knows?

For what it's worth, I'd put the Packers back at last in the NFCCG against, let's say, a hell-bent on revenge Niners, led by All Pro Randy Moss (c'mon, it could happen).

I gotta put the Pats in the AFCCG and will say that the resilient Steelers will surprise most folks and play in that game as well.

SB? Pats--Pack, with Brady finally getting his fourth ring. Ya gotta believe!!!

We do a Colts thing like last season and go 0-16

We'll Call it the 'Badly For Barkley' campaign and try and lose to get the nation's top QB to become our next QB to replace Brady.

I, sort of, agree with you regarding the opener at Tennessee.

I have always hated having to open up on the road, especially against a team that is a big underdog and one that every pre game prognosticator will be picking to lose the game.

The Pats will be on foreign turf, inside a stadium that will be rocking with loud fans for the home team knowing that, at that particular moment in time, they are tied with every other team in the NFL at 0-0. The fans will really be loud, very, very loud.

That being said, this will be a game that the Pats can not risk falling behind early. It will further ignite the crowd, and the team.

The impetus for this game will fall on the shoulders of Josh McDaniels who needs to come out with a very aggressive offensive attack right from the getgo. And, that includes accepting to receive if they win the coin toss.

No deferring to the second half in this one and give the ball to the Titans first.

Take the ball and come out looking for the jugular. And, stay the hell out of that shotgun formation, you are dictating to the defense what is coming, and with the loud crowd howling, it makes it more difficult to hear the signals from the QB in the shotgun instead of right up there on the line.

And most of all, get the hell out of run first, pass second mode. The strength of this team will be play action from the get go and throwing the football, to the seams inside......

Am I suggesting that they never should run the ball? Hell no, but it has to be treated as secondary until the success of the passing game has forced the defense into defending it and loosening up on run defense.

Again, on the road, on opening day, the best team does not always win and it is a game in which underdogs can, and do, rise up in front of rabid home fans.

I hate opening up on the road.
