they still get the player they want, or in regards to talent level, and pick up additional picks.
So f they still get the player they want, at the price they want, then by all means trade back and pick up some picks..
Of course, I'm a fan who wants them to move up and get Quinn
I've said it before and I will say it again. No judge is going to declare that the draft is illegal because that would affect ALL 4 major sports leagues. Not happening.
One problem with the whole lawsuit thing is that the owners were working under mutually agreed upon rules. The players agreed to the draft, franchise tag, etc. How can they now rule it to be illegal? Makes no sense.. Both parties would be guilty of allowing it.
From 1989 thourgh 1993, with NO CBA, the draft went on. It will continue on for the foreseeable future. This posturing by Goodell is just bogus.
As for Kessler. He's a rogue and needs to be jettisoned by the Player's Trade Association. All he will bring them is a world of hurt in the long run. Player salaries will take a beating..

Belichick v. NFL, et al. — Represented NFL Head Coach in litigation over changing teams;
McNeil et al. v. NFL, et al. — Won jury verdict for NFL players, striking down free agency restrictions under the antitrust laws. This victory led to the Reggie White class action, in which the current free agency/salary cap system in the NFL was achieved;
That being said, it would appear that Cousin DB is one of those "trade till next year and it doesn't matter if the guy you pass is a pro bowler" guys (want examples?). As I am sure you read Bill this week saying....and how ironic now....that there will come a time when he finally has to take some players with the annual surplus on picks (cash in). Remember, he has got nailed with this Trade Draft picks into next year m.o. as well.
If he trades up and down in this class fine.
My point is that there might be a Draft but perhaps not as we know it now. It could be re-visited because without a doubt, the fact is the weaker Teams had poor records to earn that spot but the salaries rose at those slots so high even if the Team wanted to Trade it couldn't. There will be changes. Perhaps they go to a group limited Draft where you might have eight Teams at the front of the Draft only allowed to Trade amongst themselves or something like that because a weak Team takes years to straighten out. It's bad for the league.
If BB Trades out for 2012 picks next week I would be the first to categorize that as a STUPID move on the Pats F.O. unless they have advanced information about a new CBA. All you "Geeze Louise, we won't have added picks in 2012, We're doomed!!!!!!" please take heart. If there is a new CBA , FA will happen and we can move guys like Mankins if the league does not screw us out of him or a guy like Merriweather for picks in 2012 after the Draft.....relieved?

This makes sense to me. Over the years collective bargaining does change drafts. The NBA was originally a 12 round draft which has been negotiated down to only 2 rounds through collective bargaining over the years. ( I remember Manute Bol the fifth rounder ! ). In the 1950's the NFL had thirty ( 30) rounds ! Risky business giving up a bird in the hand this year, for one who is probably in the bush next year.
DW - It's pretty f'in stupid of you to go making such wild assumptions when I never said such a thing. Do everyone a favor and stop reading into more than what was said.
Do u have a link to the Lombardi article?Michael Lombardi wrote an article today ( i think today or yesterday) regaring how the pats massage the draft.

Mr. Everyone, Please read what I said. I said it would "appear" that you were one of those that is a proponent of trading away all the valued picks from one year to the next. Your statements project that tendency. If I at all have read you wrong and you would be of those who think that hence warned, trading into 2012 does not seem like a smart way to go, I stand corrected Cousin DB.
