There are probably defendants other than Seymour's father. I won't venture a guess at whom, not knowing the facts. But I would guess there is some sort of insurance policy at issue. Technically, Seymour's dads estate is on the hook as well. I would guess there isn't too much there. Though there could be a house, etc.

Richard's personal assets are not at risk.

Still has to be painful memories for the seymonsta it sure was a tragedy what transpired with his father. Richard is a amazing man not just for what he does for the pats but the way he persevered and takes care of his family and is a good role model for our children to look up to.
