Steelers choke

If there's one player in the league who is absolutely their teams MVP it's Polamalu ... when he is on the top of his game the Steelers are a way different team.

maybe but they wont a lot of games last yr without him in the lineup and much tougher schedule. Polamalu injury is no excuse whatsoever.

Wow. That's the only word I can summon when I think about this season. It's been a long long time since I've witnessed such a complete and total collapse of a football team. There's really no single player to blame either. This team is just playing downright ugly in almost EVERY aspect of the game. Special teams looks like a JV High School squad, the O-line getting detroyed by teams like the Cleveland freakin' Browns pass rush, Defense giving up big plays to pathetic offenses in CLUTCH situations, losing battles at the line of scrimmage everywhere, Offense is totally out of sync. It's just really ugly, and VERY difficult to watch as a die-hard fan. While Polamalu IS missed, he's definitely not the problem here. He may have single-handedly kept them in a few of these close games, but he shouldn't have had to. These losses are to teams that the Steelers SHOULD have man-handled with or without their defensive star.

These last two losses hurt the most, and not just because they were to horrible football teams. Realistically, BOTH of these games were MUST WINS, with the Steelers fighting for their playoff lives. I never am happy with a loss, but I can live with it when I feel my team did their best. That just wasn't the case, especially last week. These guys are playing with absolutely NO passion or intensity. They're just out there going through the motions as if they could give two ****s whether they're on the field or not. It's unreal! I seriously wish Tomlin would have just started assigning seats on the bench and throwing some of the young guys out there. At least THEY might have some motivation to prove something, and maybe THEY would be fired up. What do they have to lose?? How much worse could they possibly perform?? The starters certainly were'nt in it to win it (with the exception of a few).

Oh well....it is what it is. Season in ashes. I forsee (and sincerely HOPE for) some serious changes this offseason. Bob Ligashesky (ST's coach) and Bruce Ariens (Off. Coordinator)....I hope you have your bags packed and a police escort outta town! I'll be standing by the Parkway waving a one finger salute as you leave. And that's just the beginning.... ;-)

Well...someone threw me a lifeline and got me off the cliff...I had already jumped...but landed on a tree branch sticking out of the side of the mountain...so as I was hanging there...contemplating my shiiiittty luck and wondering how the EF we lost to the stinking browns, a passer by from Wisconsin threw me a line and hauled me back up to the top...

then...this black bird flew into New Jersey and downed a Jet. And a Horse kicked a jaguar in the face and killed it too...then these dirty pirates from the west coast, went into the Rockies and started killing horses...and the next thing I know...there is a slight sliver of hope? Seriously?

Of coarse I have no secondary, my offensive coordinator refuses to call running plays regardless of weather conditions and my QB is playing half blind from the concussions he's received this season (5 more sacks yesterday) but there is this slight chance of hope that really...hurts to have cause now that I have some hope...the idea of throwing myself off the cliff again is just so daunting...

Hahaha...nice Dino! Yea, it wasn't exactly pretty, but I'll take a win over a good football team regardless. You're right though...we have NO secondary (without Polamalu) and Ariens is an asshat. Not TOO worried about Ben (based on his performance this week), as it seems as though he's cleared some of the cobwebs outta his brain. On a brighter note, the offense seems energized and performed fairly well, and the ST's didn't give up any HUGE plays, so there is a silver lining I suppose. We got "a little help from our friends" so to speak in some other clutch games, so there is still a small glimmer of hope. But there's still a LOT of magic that needs to happen too, and we DESPERATELY need Troy back on the field. It's unbelievable to me how ONE GUY can make a bunch of underperforming hacks look somewhat decent. When Troy got injured their cover was blown though, and now we know what we REALLY have in the secondary. I guess it was a lot of smoke and mirrors.

I know I've said it before, but I just don't understand HOW William Gay is a starter in the NFL, much less for the Steelers! He defines the word "suck".

But a lifeline is a lifeline I suppose. I haven't jumped yet, but I've oredered up my last meal, and put on a fresh pair of underwear (since mom says you should always have fresh skivies on when you croak). So, let's see what happens. I would hate to jump, only to find out at the Pearly Gates that while I was "going towards the light" the Steelers snuck into the postseason as a wildcard, ran the gauntlet, and won their 7th Super Bowl.

really...just need to beat the Ravens first and foremost...all the "math" and crap aside, means nothing if we lose to the Ravens.

i expect the steelers to win the next two .not sure how the other chips will fall.

Nice to see even you folks have some faith! ;)

You're exactly right Dino...NEITHER of these remaining games is gonna be a cakewalk. None of it matters unless we first and foremost take care of business with the Ratbirds this week.
